Hi all,
I'm somewhat new to this forum. I applied to Parkland's MICU and SICU residency. I've already received the email saying my apps were forwarded to the hiring manager. I'm looking for any info on what the hiring process is like, far as, how long after receiving the email did you get an interview and also any info on how the residency works. My dream is either to get into the ED or one of the critical care areas. I know this would be a great opportunity to be employed at a Level I trauma center. Any advice, tips, connections and info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
I got my offer today at 5. I graduated in May and got licensed in June but I've been licensed as a LVN for 4 years w/med-surg experience. I'm just ready to hear ok this is final and I'm doing all my testing and everything. I'm not sure how long the process takes for them to call you back
WOW, congrats babigrl!!! I'm so excited for you! Having nursing experience will definitely benefit you. I graduated in December, and took a very much needed break. So, I am a "baby" nurse, struggling with all the knowledge that was crammed in my brain... It feels like it has been slowly leaking out these past few months, lol. I am really scared and at the same time really excited. I hope and pray I get an awesome preceptor. I hear that is what makes or breaks you. As soon as I hear from my recruiter, I will post here within the hour and share my info.
I so glad I'm not the only one freaking out. I interviewed for the ED residency and was called the next day with an offer. I still don't have the official offer. I am relocating from Rhode Island and need to rent my house out, my husband has to quit his job, and I need to find somewhere to live in Dallas. As of right now I can't really do any of those things without an offer in writing. With my 1700 mile move only 3 weeks away I'm a little anxious to say the least.
I'm starting to think that I dreamed up the phone call friday offering me a spot. I called my recruiter today and emailed her asking her what the next steps are. I would also like to know what kind of schedule we will have... I have not heard back from her yet though.
I was experiencing tunnel vision when she called, so I don't remember much after we hung up. :)
Maybe I just misunderstood in the interview about how the residency works. I understood it that as long as you do what is expected, and pass the classroom portion along with the clinical portion, the contract is offered. So it seems now we wait for further instruction.
Are any of the ED residents going to prepare? If so, how? what reading material? I thought I could brush up on commonly seen issues seen in the ED, and being the nerd that I am, I also bought a book specifically for Emergency Nursing. I just want to start already.
Daisy, this is how I felt after I talked with my SICU recruiter lol.
I accepted yesterday and was told I'd probably hear back next week so I'm assuming a week or so with the official offer. But even waiting on that is nerve wrenching lol
BIG CONGRATS babigrl! I thought I said congrats earlier, but couldn't find my post. I have been using my iPhone for the most part. I will blame it on that...

If the question is directed to me, I got the offer on friday. When did you get it? Are you a graduate nurse or an RN with experience in another department?
