Parkland Critical Care Nurse Residency Sept 2012

Published

Hi all,

I'm somewhat new to this forum. I applied to Parkland's MICU and SICU residency. I've already received the email saying my apps were forwarded to the hiring manager. I'm looking for any info on what the hiring process is like, far as, how long after receiving the email did you get an interview and also any info on how the residency works. My dream is either to get into the ED or one of the critical care areas. I know this would be a great opportunity to be employed at a Level I trauma center. Any advice, tips, connections and info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Thank you newdaisyRN!

I also received that email newdaisyrn and spoke with my recruiter today. I was told that until the drug screening is complete they cannot make an official offer.

I guess I better call mine again... Both of you are ER though, right?

Thanks RNgoldie, I have no worries on the drug screening, so its unofficially official, lol. So excited! And yes, hopingicu, I'm ER.

I also received the email from the recruiter on yesterday to schedule the drug screen which I did. I didn't call her to get any info far as the official offers and how that process works. The hiring process is weird and confusing. Well that's just my thoughts.

So, I finally received my paperwork for Parkland, stating my offer. Hurray :). I feel soooo much better. Moving up soon guys!

Hey did anybody get any info on the nurse resident acute stroke unit???? It's supposed to start 9/24, I just got an email my info was sent to the nurse manager. And does anyone know a good place to live near the hospital??? Not to expensive.

I guess it depends what type of neighborhood, house, apartment, does schools matter? I'm general for a nice apartment there are places north and north east. Do you want to be really close to Parkland itself ? How far are you ok with driving?

I'm in Weatherford which is an hour west of Parkland. The commute actually isn't that bad I guess I've gotten used to commuting. I'm not to familiar with the area being that I'm not from here. @Kabouche-- have you interviewed for the position yet?? The hiring process is pretty long but I'm assuming since the residencies start on the 24th you may hear from them sooner than we did far as an interview and things like that
