Hi everyone! Haven’t seen a thread yet for the Palomar Health nurse residency for this fall/August 2019 cohort so just wanted to start one! Just thought we could inform each other on what we hear and such!
From my internal Palomar friend :
you will have several stations and you will go through all of them ( 10 min each). You will be graded by interviewer and based on that and your specific 3 top choices you will be ether offered a position or not .... hope this helps too all who got selected
Hey everyone! Congrats to those that received an email for an interview! :)
I received an interview email today as well and was asked to list my top 3 choices. I would LOVE to work in the ICU, but I'm wondering if I would be ruining my chances of getting an offer by selecting ICU and STICU as 2 of my choices because when I don't have much experiences in those areas. Does anyone know if there are specific requirements for those 2 units (ex: ICU externship experience)? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! :)
For those of you who got interviews, first congrats!! also if you don't mind me asking, did you do any clinical rotations at Palomar? Did you hold a job during nursing school? I'm licensed, have my bsn, have a cardiac icu preceptorship, and numerous leadership and volunteering activities on my resume. I'm trying to figure out where I'm missing the mark in my applications, as I did not get an interview
I just got an email saying I was not selected for the new grad program!
I did multiple clinicals at Palomar, including my preceptorship where I even for a letter of rec from my preceptor!! I work as a CNA at a hospital in San Diego as well.
I didn’t have an NCLEX date at the time of the application though... so I’m thinking maybe that’s the reason I wasn’t selected?
But anyways, congrats to those who landed interviews!!! Keep us posted on how it goes!
Welcome to the world of “Hospital Politics “
The world in which people who speak 3 languages, have 4 years of previous health care experience with IV insertion skills, 1000 of volunteer hours , multiple honors for academic achievements, active participant in nursing association ...yet not qualified enough ..
But here is the irony of all this ... some people who don’t have any health care experience, on probation throughout entire nursing school, no volunteer hours, no honors ... congratulations you were selected for an interview.?
I do know that there are some extremely qualified folks who got selected for an interview ... I’m haply for you because you earned it... but I struggle to understand what happened to those who don’t have any qualification and how they became “qualified “
