Palm vein scan

Nursing Students NCLEX

Can anyone help put my nerves at ease? I took the NCLEX yesterday and when I came out, my right Palm vein did not match, but my left one did, so they let me go. Now there is a hold on my results. I didn't leave at all during the exam, so I am not sure why they wouldn't match. Can this affect me getting a license or not? Did this happen to anyone else? How long does the hold take? Thanks!!

Holds are usually 48-72 hours. It won't affect your results if you did nothing wrong. If your skin was very moist or very dry it can affect your scan.

Thank you! I can only pray they take this hold off ASAP because I'm going crazy!! I followed all the rules as I was suppose to!

The QA/QC audits take about 72 hours. Nothing you can do but hurry up and wait

I will try as hard as I can to wait patiently! :) Do you know what they do during those audits? What do they look at/for?

Specializes in Med-Surg, Emergency.

Mine were on hold for testing too quickly. It's agonizing to wait but hang in there! :)

They review video, audio, check in/out, keystrokes, responses from the time you walk in until you depart. They view frame by frame, your ID scanned vs ID & photo submitted by the BoN to PV (especially in your case with an issue with the vein scan

You totally understand how I feel right now then!! :)

Oh wow, I can see why it takes 72 hours to complete then! I don't think I ever submitted a photo to the BON though. They just did what they needed with my ID and then took a picture of my before I went in there.

Most states require a photo to be submitted to the BoN as part of the application process. If your BoN did not don't worry about it. Your photo was taken as part of the registration & exit process and you had to provide a government issued photo ID (license or passport) so you are covered there. They understand not everyone looks exactly like their ID photo. The only person that I know had an issue decided to send Glamour Shot photos to the BoN and actually was questioned when she arrived to take the nclex as neither she nor her ID resembled her Glamour Shout photos. Now we laugh about it and my nursing school instructors warned students moving forward. ;)

Just curious, how fast were you?
