Hi everyone :)Just wanted to let my allnurses buddies know, I got packet 4 in the post today :w00t:
I have my Embassy interview in London on April 11 so if all goes well, I'll be good to go anytime after then
I can't quite believe this journey is almost over.....no more CGFNS, no more NVC, no more USCIS, no more waiting! I'm on my way!

hi,
i'm sorry i don't know you, but you seem sooo excited, so i feel excited for you...LOL!
i am a US RN with over 28 years experience and will be traveling to great britain in may, staying for 1 month...if i like it will give serious consideration to becoming eligible to work in the UK...is the process really grim and long?
in reading some of the threads, it appears that going through an agency in not the way to go...is this true?
should i contact the NMC and study the process and in your experience are there any shortcuts to the process?
thanks...and congratulation:balloons:

It is going to come down to your training that you had back in school, if it was the two year program, it will not meet requirements for a work visa there. You need at least a three year program to meet their requirements.
It will take you at least one year to get thru all of it, and no shortcuts, unfortunately.
hi,thanks for your response...i have a BSN so do you think the process will be easier? and am i correct in thinking that i need to go through the NMC?

yes you have no choice but to go through NMC and here is the link http://www.nmc-uk.org/aSection.aspx?SectionID=17 once you have gotten your PIN number which enables you to work here you then need to find a hospital for a work permit. That may be hard at the moment as a lot of hospitals are cutting back even with nurses due to financial difficulties
