Overweight

Published

Ok guys, I have been a nurse since 2007 and since then I have gained about 50lbs.

Yes, I know I am not lying. It is very true. I used to fit in to xs scrubs. I work nights because it is convenient for my family and babysitting and my husbands schedule.

Tomorrow I start the dvd beachbody programs and hope for the best. It makes me sad that even at work people around me comment on how much weight I have gained. I can't fit into my clothes.

working nights I always find excuses to eat sweets or other bad things for weight.

Argue all you wish, totally cool. I'm still standing behind what I quoted and what I wrote. This isn't a head scratcher.

I'm not scratching my head. I'm telling you, the thread shifted to veganism. I said vegans wouldn't eat poultry or dairy products.

Again...........

I responded ONLY ****ONLY**** to the comment that inferred you have to eat meat to get B12. I don't give a bugs back side about veganism, I didn't respond to anything regarding veganism. I responded to the post that referred to meat and B12.

Again....

Poultry IS meat.

And you were derailing it totally and completely and entirely off topic from the topic we were discussing. Which made your comment a moot point.

Bacon. It breaks every rule.

Now stop quibbling.

I prefer sausage. Not a big bacon fan.

Well then.

I don't like bacon or sausage. I don't like breakfast food in general.

Sometimes I just get carried away lol :sly:

I'm not a big fan of pork in general, but if I had to choose I would choose sausage. I like breakfast but not as much as lunch or dinner. There will be times I'll have my veggie pasta for breakfast because I don't want actual breakfast foods for breakfast. :p

Dinner is my favorite meal of the day.

Chicken is always my meat of choice. It's good for you, easy to cook, and versatile. You can do anything with chicken just about.

Regarding a vegan diet, I would agree that it's healthier overall. Forks over knives is an excellent documentary.

However, for some people (myself included) the proteins obtained from plant sources is inadequate. I went vegan for four months a few years ago and my iron dropped in the toilet. The other factor was working permanent nights.

I still eat nuts, greens and legumes, but my body needs meat. Not every day, but at least once a week. My friend has been vegan since age 12 and she eats a balanced diet. However, her iron and B12 is always very low. I think some people can handle being vegan, others not so much.

I'm kinda chickened out.

I've been on a fish kick.

Don't feel bad. You've clearly got a full plate and are doing the best you can. The beach-body videos are intense though. They get you moving in a "hit the ground running" kind of momentum. Personally, I preferred Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. There's three level videos, each is about 20 minutes and because you build from level to level it's totally tolerable. It helped me increase my fitness level and tone-up after gaining 15lbs r/t to the night shift routine. Like you, one of my best-friends gained 50lbs too r/t to working the night shift exclusively. She said that having an exercise buddy helped her to keep motivated and slim down. She's lost 20lbs so far. Find someone who lives close-by to be your exercise buddy!
