Overnight Trips

Wish me luck!

I am going on a 2 night 3 day College Awareness tour to Philly this weekend with 100 8th graders!

I am bringing meds for all the kids that have orders, and have spoke to the parents to bring me their kids meds that they take at home. I am bringing pads and tampons. I am bringing Ibuprofen and Tylenol.

I have a To Go bag, with gloves a drape, thermometer, etc.

What am I forgetting?

Well?

Fluctuations between loud screaming fun and loud screaming Hell.

One very clotty nosebleed, 2 pukers and very high maintenance parents.

What ever they paid you, it was not enough!

It was fun. It really was. There were some kids that were way too young for the trip, but it was good. 2 staff I really like went as well. And with my own kids in the late high school/college process now it is always interesting to tour the schools.

The parents calling their kids every 5 minutes, though. I don't get it.

Hope it went well. I did an overnight trip with our 6th graders 1 year to DC. I had a great time and opted for 3 comp days instead of extra pay. Used those days for a trip with my girlfriends to someplace tropical-totally worth it!

My school takes all the seniors to Europe for 7 days. While it is a free trip to Europe (no extra payment), I don't jump at the chance to chaperone even though I love the kids. Though, I suppose, being in Europe does make it a little harder for parents to call all the time :).

Tip of the hat to you, Farawyn.

You mean free for you, right? Surely not for the kids....

Yes, free for me/chaperones. We do fund raise all fall to reduce the cost for the students. They know the more money they raise, the cheaper the trip is for them.

Because one of my sons was attending a week long, junior high, summer camp a few years back I volunteered to be the camp nurse. I figured it'd be pretty cool since I wasn't expected to pay a fee and my meals would be provided....STUUUUUUUUUUPID. NEVER AGAIN

high maintenance parents???? never heard that before>>>>>>NOT!!!
