Out of a job

I came into work this morning as usual and told the owner of the company that I was looking for a new position that made more money. I told him I wished him and his company well and held no hard feelings. The administrator of the home health side, which is where I worked, found out that I was looking for another position and fired me on the spot. I didn't even have a chance to talk with anyone. I was escorted out of the building as though a common criminal. I was working at a pay rate half of what I usually made. I was leaving because the administrator I worked for was incompetent and could not get the agency started without my skills and knowledge. Needless to say, I am now unemployed, I may lose my home and car and I feel as low as a whale's belly. I have never been treated like this and I don't even know where to turn. I am at a loss as to how to handle this. I'm crying so hard now I can hardly type. I did not go to the administrator and tell her that I was looking elsewhere because she was the reason I was leaving and I didn't want to leave with hard feelings. I've learned some hard lessons here. 1. Never be honest and tell someone what you are doing, even if it's to give them a heads up as to what is coming. 2. Never, ever discuss any concerns with anyone as it will do you in no matter how truthful the concerns are. 3. Scum always seems to rise to the top. Thanks for letting me vent. :scrying:

I agree scum rises to the top. However, after being run out of a job by a bully and her cohort I have realized that things happen for a reason. Wishing you the best.

Try to calm down. I know easier said then done! I too have opened my mouth many times at jobs, and have found that honesty is not always the best policy. I know things look really bad right now but, there probably is another better job, that you will get. You have to be true to yourself, and working like a slave to make other people rich, really stinks! Hang in there!

Oh, honey, I am so, so sorry.

You are not going to lose your house and car. You will file for unemployment, to which you are entitled, and pull out any savings you need to to keep afloat.

Man, this bites. I'm really sorry.

KEEP YOUR HEAD UP!!! You didn't do anything wrong!! A similar circumstance happened to me years ago. It was the best thing that ever happened to me , as it turned out. That place went down the tubes shortly afterwards. You will find MUCH better opportunities--I PROMISE. Sometimes the "honchos" don't appreciate honesty and suffer the consequences! I hate that you were "escorted out" WTH???? I support you, girl and I am sure many others do too. That being said, carry on! There are many other places who would love to have you!

As a nurse who had a tendency to not have sufficient savings i will respond as though you may not either. Remember , one of the best things about nursing is the ability to find a job FAST. Even though it may not be your dream job it will pay your bills. You could call up a few local agencies and after a couple hours of very boring paperwork you can be making money before the week is out. Hang in there and remember that you reap what you sow. They aren't getting away with anything. Even if you never see it they will pay. Everyone does. You might even consider taking a travel assignment in your city which will guarantee you hours with great pay and provide you with a housing stipend to pay the mortgage. It is also for a set time in case you want to look for something more to your liking.

Thank you all so much. It means so very much to hear support. I live in a small town and opportunities are not many. I don't have any savings left as I used them up this year working at a position that was half of what I used to make. It sucks so bad. I felt like a common criminal being escorted out. I haven't even told my husband yet. He's going to flip out. I can truly understand why people go over the edge. I have never felt so worthless in my entire life. I just can't stop crying. :o

I was there just last Thursday, underpaid. I know how awful you feel.

Cry yourself out.

Thanks honey. If we lived closer, we could cry on each other's shoulders. Thanks for being there.

I understand but girl DO NOT give these leeches your joy. You will find another job and soon. If you are in a smaller place perhaps you can find a baylor program that might be a bit of a commute but you would only have to get there on weekends when traffic is light. YOU CAN DO THIS !!

Thanks honey. I just love everyone for their support.

It does suck to be treated with ignorance. It's there NOT handling a situation, probably unable to anyway from the sounds of this adm.

It is not you, it's what has happened to you. And I am so sorry for that. I don't know if writing a letter would help or not. Union or non union?

You are needed and what happens tomorrow is because you are a change, not just for you but also for them. And you will see alll the possibilities!!!!!!!

Just believe it!

Prayers,

Sharona
