I just find it weird how my family and friends who are not in the health field they think that my whole life ie just based on Nursing and think that I have labs in my basement or something.

Before covid I was playing guitar in bars/night clubs with my friends band. I loved the music and meeting the people. I also like playing basketball, martial arts, tennis not much of a traveler but I love camping.

Hiking, camping, backpacking are my thing - would love to travel more but still assisting kids with getting thru college with least debt as possible - gotta a few more summers of sleeping in a tent verses a nice hotel ?

I guess I am "passionate" about public speaking. I absolutely love to talk and give speeches-- but especially tell stories. I am hilarious, if I do say so myself.  One of the highlights of the past few years has been that I joined my local Toastmasters branch.  We meet twice a month and I just love it.

Genuinely wondering - *how* do you love public speaking? What do you enjoy about it? I so wish I could develop this attitude!

I have a huge ego. You have to channel that. You have to tell yourself: “This information I am about to share is absolutely fascinating. My audience is going to eat this up— I can not WAIT to explain this to them. They are going to LOVE this story I’m fixing to tell.”  And obviously, fake it until you make it with the attitude. ?

And if you don’t like it, but you have to do it for work, then I really do recommend Toastmasters. The groups tend to be overwhelmingly supportive, and you’ll have the chance to practice getting up to speak in front of a safe and supportive small group. And at the end of the day, public speaking is a skill, so the more practice you get, the better you’ll be.

How interesting!

Specializes in Nephrology/Dialysis.

I live in Montana and have horses.  They are my sanity!  I can trailer 15 - 30 minutes from my house and be lost in the woods for a day!  The only thing that relaxes me and makes me feel free of life's encumbrances...

Specializes in Neuro, ED, Cardiac, Clinical Informatics.

I enjoy gardening - took a master gardener class once and that was fascinating.

I also like to paint! Anything and everything...truly.

Taught myself to sew a couple of years ago (simple seams, nothing fancy). I enjoy crafts that allow me to repurpose items and find a way to bring new life to them.

And for the past 18mos, my son and I have been working on a model railroad in the basement. That's been a fun project and a HUGE learning curve.

Specializes in mental health / psychiatic nursing.

Gardening, animals (have permanent residents and foster animals at the moment), hiking, crochet, sewing, reading, studying history and languages, genealogy (but from more of a sociopoliticalgeographical perspective), voice/music, .... I could go on. I have lots of things I pick up and put down depending on season, time, and mood.

Specializes in RETIRED Cath Lab/Cardiology/Radiology.

We have several felines (all rescues); it's nice to come home to such a welcome each night!

We camp when we can, and attend bluegrass festivals.  Dh plays banjo, I play guitar, and we jam with others, at the bluegrass festivals (which also fulfills our desire for camping, for we drive our little RV there and camp during the festival!).  Dh jams with others daily via Jamkazam.

I sew, and have made garb for attending Ren Faires (before Covid), and fixed up an outfit for a Dickens Christmas Dinner.

Before Covid, dh and I would dress "dapper" and go walk around the parks.  He can't go on many of the rides (has had neck surgery), so we'd walk (we called it our Disney Health Club) and listen to the bands and entertainments.  We got started after we attended a couple "Dapper Day" events, held twice a year, at the parks.  Not affiliated with Disneyland, but held there.  People would arrive all dressed up (some in period costumes, from the 40's, 50's, and 60's) to go through the parks (like ppl used to dress when Disneyland opened in 1955).  It's just a lot of fun, and ppl and staff both get a kick out of it too!

My best friend and I attended the Telluride Bluegrass Festival a few years ago, lucky to get tickets with camping at Warner Field.  We left kids and husbands at home.....we had so much fun, met so many friendly people, probably the best music festival I have ever attended.
