OSCE REVISION for NMC REGISTRATION

Published

I am Wency, a registered nurse in the Philippines. I recently passed the IELTS (8.5, 7,7,7) and the NMC part 1 competency test which is the CBT. Now, I am preparing for the final test which is the OSCE. I am currently in the United Kindom particularly in Lincolnshire, and I would like to ask you guys if you know a training agency in the UK that provides training or preparatory course for OSCE because I am not confident to take it yet for some reasons that the Uk healthcare system is different from the Philippines perhaps they have different approach in providing care to the patients and etc.

Tuition fee for intensive revision for OSCE is not a problem as long as I can enroll for revision.

I sat my OSCE yesterday, it was my first take. I had to stay at Sunley the night before because I'm from south of Manchester. I must say it was the most tiring 3 hours I've had in a long while which explains why I slept a solid 12 hours afterwards. The people here were right, it was basic nursing skills, but how would you perform well without getting anxious when you know it's £1000 down the drain? and not the mention the examiner/s looking at you, and not to mention the pressure you'd get from the people expecting you'd pass because 1. they believe so much in you 2. they don't really know how hard it is or 3. both. You will tend to over-analyse what you just did and I am still doing it at the moment, but what's done is done. All I know is I did my very best and if it happens that my surgical ICU nurse experience specialising in open heart surgeries like cabg and valve repairs is not good enough.. then I'm going to re-sit the osce. I'm so full of positivity in me that I won't dwell so much in it, I have waited 2.5 years for my DL-from old scheme to new rules. I flew once back to Cairo to get my certificates and also flew once back to Manila to get some more papers that they were (additionally) asking. I know there are lots of people who would rather be in my position right now that's why I'm still thankful.

Remember: do not wipe the bottom trolley! the assessor has told you that it has been cleaned with soap and water within 24 hours. Do not wipe it! Watch the NILE video and you'll see that after she's cleaned the whole trolley with soap and water, she only wiped the top shelf. Do not wipe the bottom! Do not assume that bottom trolley is dirty because you didn't disinfect it, it's been cleaned-end of.

I got my results in today, I partially failed. Apparently, I'm too fast to allow chest recoil that will not sustain life they say. How could one be possibly be faster in the rate of 100-120 beats per minutes?

Hello guys. I have taken the exam in September and by God's grace I have passed! It's my second sitting and I've been so Stressed Out all those days. All I did was to leave it in God's hands and let Him do the work. But looking at it in the natural, all I did was practice and practice. I cannot imagine how hard it is for you guys if there's no trust to support you. I am so blessed because the trust where I am in, paid for everything : my first take OSCE (£1000), my resit fee (£450+), our hotel and train (£200+) so it's one less of my problems. They also provided us training. We had mannequins and supplies. So with their help, with all my effort and hardwork (God's work) and God's grace, I passed the exam!

Suggestion : download the metronome app and use it while you practice, on a mannequin or a teddy bear, whatever that helps.

Hello! I just took my osce last Monday and I partially failed because i ran of time in antt. I just want to ask for some help about the retake. It's just making me worried because we are the 1st batch of nurses in our trust who took the osce.

Is it the same skills in retake?

Oh my god! Is that an actual joke?!?! This whole test is sounding more and more like a scam!

It was Monday and I was the first one in to have my BLS assessed. It took him at least 8-10 minutes to restart and restart the sensor under the rescus mannequin so I was just standing there in front watching him. Apparently, I kept in touch with a co-candidate and he also partially failed with being too slow on his chest compressions- suspicious eh? I will be resitting mine in 2 weeks time and hopefully would get this time right and for sure I will never sit the osce on an early Monday ever again! A simple tip, if you're going to book your OSCE, try booking on a midweek and avoid Mondays and Saturdays because they can get a bit grumpy on those days. Hahahaha!!

hi everyone,,

does anyone know a good agency where i can do an osce prep programme...i am about to pay for the exam and want to be fully prepared. is there also anyone who has passed that will not mind helping me out?? thanks!

Does the hospital or trust you are affiliated with give any trainings in preparation for osce?

I would strongly recommend writing a complaint about this. And it shouldn't matter what kind of mood he is in or what day you test, they are testing your competence only. I think they take video footage of all tests, so they'd be able to go back and assess. I'm assuming you paid a second time to re-do? Good luck

Hi anybody here who once worked in Saudi?i wanna know the documents they asked from you. I am currently in the Philippines and will not be gling back there. I am yet to take the CBT but before that I wanna make sure that I could comply with all the documents NMC is asking. I was told that it takes NMC forever to assess the documents.

Anyway, congrats to all of you who passed the OSCE.. Godbless to those who will be taking it. You can make you dreams happen. â˜ï¸í ½í¸˜

Hello fellow nurses

i have qualified last month and received my PIN and soon be starting with my new job. I thank all people here in the forum who have helped me and gave feedbacks about the osce exam. I passed it after 2 sittings. I studied really hard practiced all skills everyday until I memorise it. I also have filmed myself whilst practicing to make sure I was doing the right thing. I wasn't working in any trust so I have self studied.

I purchased an osce manual for nurses on gumtree and it was a great help for me and has guided me throughout , as at first I didn't know how to approach the exam! It was a life saver for me.

Also another helpful tool was downloading an app for CPR called pocket CPR. It tells you your rate and depth. I practiced CPR, Im and wound dressing using a stuff toy! It worked for me luckily.

My advice is study and practice lots. Don't attempt the exam if you're not prepared yet because it's very expensive.

Dont forget your referrals, hand washing, prioritise pt safety and hand washing!!

I will everyone the best on your exams and I hope you all achieve your dream job.
