OSCE REVISION for NMC REGISTRATION

World Registration

Published

I am Wency, a registered nurse in the Philippines. I recently passed the IELTS (8.5, 7,7,7) and the NMC part 1 competency test which is the CBT. Now, I am preparing for the final test which is the OSCE. I am currently in the United Kindom particularly in Lincolnshire, and I would like to ask you guys if you know a training agency in the UK that provides training or preparatory course for OSCE because I am not confident to take it yet for some reasons that the Uk healthcare system is different from the Philippines perhaps they have different approach in providing care to the patients and etc.

Tuition fee for intensive revision for OSCE is not a problem as long as I can enroll for revision.

Hi Wency. A few of my mentors who are from abroad did OSCE's at Northampton Uni. If you can contact their nursing department I'm sure they'll give you additional information or where to look for revision materials. Since you're from the Philippines I'll say you'll be more than competent to carry out the practicals the NMC will ask for. They tend not to ask for particularly complicated tasks. Best of luck x

Really??? ahm did you say your mentors were also taking the OSCE? if they did, i would like to ask them. Could you please refer me to your mentors? . Id like to ask them some questions related to OSCE.plsss

As in they are practicing nurses currently and did OSCE's however many years ago. I really do think the best thing you can do is contact the universities, they can provide much more up to date information

Hi I am an overseas nurse too from the Philippines and have just finished submitting all my documents to the NMC. I just want to ask if you already have a permission to take the OSCE? And how long did you have to wait for all your documents to be assessed? Thanks.

Hi Gsimps,

I am still waiting for the permission to take the OSCE. Just like you, I have also finished submitting my requirements.

We are in the same boat. How long have you been waitind for a decision?

I have just attended an OSCE Simulation training in my Trust, it is very helpful as you can have the feel and know what to expect on the day of the exam, Im currently working as an HCA in NHS so I would recommend for anyone in the UK working for NHS to contact your Practice Educator to book you in for trainings, these are normally for Student Doctors and Nurses. There are different scenarios and actors and actual dummy who talks, which will greatly help for the exam.
