OSCE REVISION for NMC REGISTRATION

Published

I am Wency, a registered nurse in the Philippines. I recently passed the IELTS (8.5, 7,7,7) and the NMC part 1 competency test which is the CBT. Now, I am preparing for the final test which is the OSCE. I am currently in the United Kindom particularly in Lincolnshire, and I would like to ask you guys if you know a training agency in the UK that provides training or preparatory course for OSCE because I am not confident to take it yet for some reasons that the Uk healthcare system is different from the Philippines perhaps they have different approach in providing care to the patients and etc.

Tuition fee for intensive revision for OSCE is not a problem as long as I can enroll for revision.

Hi Kizmwah and danacanada,

Any news on your OSCE :)? We would really love to hear from you guys :)

Dana's passed it! Unfortunately, i have to resit..but don't worry, i found the exam easy and very basic. I was probably just to complacent about it. When you book for the exam, you'll be given access to an online learning. Everything's just there. :) sorry, i can't really say anything about the exam coz i've signed a non disclosure.

I understand :D. But somehow, my anxiety level has dropped a bit so thank youu :)). When is your next exam? Will you only resit a partial exam? Best of luck on your retake :D! Do you think the time given was sufficient? And congratulations to Dana :)!

I still need to call uni to arrange it. Read the osce booklet as well.. Whatever is written there about the exam is really what it is. :)

Thank you! You are the first one I've met who has taken the OSCE :D. So glad to hear from you :)!

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the kind words, I received noticed yesterday that I passed the OSCE and received my PIN today, so the process is pretty quick. As for the test I cannot say anything (as you know) but someone posted something in another thread that helped me a lot!

Hello :)

So I thought it's probably easier to put up on post because a few of you were asking me about the OSCE. I'm not allowed to say too much because you do have to sign a form saying you won't discuss the test and I'm sure you can call appreciate that, having waited 2 years, I'll be making sure I don't get into trouble with the NMC haha!

I actually think the OSCE is a lot more fair than the first test.

My best tip is:

The Northampton online material indicates what you need to focus on so pay attention to what is on there.

I gave myself 2 weeks to prepare for the test and I felt that was enough for me - but I also know that I'm the kind of person who needs pressure in order to get motivated haha. We all work differently! Also Australia's health system is so similar to the UK, it's basically based on it so a lot of the information I didn't look over because it's the same.

The main thing to remember is, they are asking for new graduate level (it's stated in the Candidate information booklet mentioned previously in this forum and available on NILE when you get access). You're not expected to know about EVERYTHING.

I get a bit anxious about going to new places so I found the video on the Northampton University website helpful NMC Test of competence

They also have some brief information on preparing here NMC Test of Competence Preparation which you can look out while you wait for a decision letter.

There's an NMC representative who checks all your documents after the test.

I did the test on a Monday and found out three days later that I passed. I've now paid for the registration and waiting for the PIN. The NMC representative at the test said it would take up to 5 working days to find out if I passed then 5 days after paying for the registration to receive the PIN.

Sorry I can't say much more, I really hope you guys get through soon! I still feel like I have the background stress of registration on my mind. It really is awful. But just think, if you have a 30 year career this time won't matter! It will seem like a small blip after time.

Don't give up!

Hi have you got your DL already? So you have booked your osce in November? I'm waiting for my DL, I was on the queue since September 3Rd. I would love to do some group study in preparation for the OSCE. There's another candidate who suggested a group study. I think that's a brilliant idea since the test is sooooo expensive that it will be for the best if we all pass first time.

Good luck.

Yes, I already have my DL :). perhaps we should make a facebook group for that :D? I also have some buddies who would also be taking the OSCE in the near future, we can share ideas or raise questions with one another :)

Congratulations RaffyFranco. My name is Joey. Hope you wouldn't mind if i ask when is your Assesment date? Im also waiting for my DL.

Goodluck and Godbless on your OSCE...

Can i join your Study Group? Im also waiting for my DL.
