Hello,
I thought I'd start a thread about anyone currently applying to any of the OHSU Nursing programs for the 2014 cohort. I currently have three applications in with them: Accelerated BSN to MSN: Psychiatric Mental Health, Accelerated BSN, and the traditional BSN Program. Has anyone had any word from them? I know that the Accel. programs have closed both their applications. Any word on interviews or scheduling?
I am currently finishing up my preqs at PCC. I am working full-time and am just flustered. I hate not knowing anything with regard to where I stand or what type of candidate they are looking for.
Does anyone else feel similarly?
How did you answer your essay questions?
I'm curious for knowledge to see if I made the boat or missed it completely.

My cumulative is a 3.51. Of course, that was 20 years ago. It's been two years of rejections now so I'm getting the feeling it's not you, it's me. Not sure where to go from here. Any suggestions of other nursing programs in the Portland area?
Do you have any volunteer experience? Or medical-related work experience?
No to medical related (trying to make a mid life career change), but I have been volunteering at the VA for the past 9 months and I am scheduled to begin training with the PWCL in May. Maybe that will help for next year? I've got to find another basket for my eggs though. I'm no spring chicken here.

The only thing I can think of is to suggest becoming a CNA and/or volunteering. Utilize the writing center at your school to go over your essays...
My cumulative is weaker than yours, so I feel your pain! I decided to only apply to schools that didn't count cumulative, so I focused on OHSU and community colleges.
If I don't get any positive responses this year, then I will definitely be getting my CNA and working in the interim and try again next year.
You WILL be a nurse!
Hey everyone! Congrats to all who were accepted to the ABSN! I got the good news that I was accepted to summer 2014 ABSN cohort. I'm in a bit of an odd situation - I just had a baby (she was a late arrival) and I had to drop by genetics class (final prereq necessary) for spring term because baby arrived just before the class started. This means I can't start in summer anymore, since the prereq class is not done. This is a long shot, but are any of you who were accepted into the Fall 2014 cohort interested in switching with me, and you would start in summer 2014 instead? I haven't asked OHSU yet, but I don't see why it would hurt to try. :) Thanks everyone!

Are you sure you need an actual genetics class? The genetics portion of my Cell Bio class covered the genetics requirement.
Hello,
I am an Oregonian who got waitlisted. I was wondering if the letter you got for admission into the Ashland program said when you needed to confirm your decision to go to OHSU? I am really, really hoping to still get in, but as stated... am waitlisted. Did the letter give any deadlines?
Thank you,
DDD

Sorry to hear that.
Best of luck to you! With a 4.0 GPA I can't imagine it will be long before you get other acceptance letters!
