Oregon Health and Science University 2014 cohort

U.S.A. Oregon

Published

Hello,

I thought I'd start a thread about anyone currently applying to any of the OHSU Nursing programs for the 2014 cohort. I currently have three applications in with them: Accelerated BSN to MSN: Psychiatric Mental Health, Accelerated BSN, and the traditional BSN Program. Has anyone had any word from them? I know that the Accel. programs have closed both their applications. Any word on interviews or scheduling?

I am currently finishing up my preqs at PCC. I am working full-time and am just flustered. I hate not knowing anything with regard to where I stand or what type of candidate they are looking for.

Does anyone else feel similarly?

How did you answer your essay questions?

I'm curious for knowledge to see if I made the boat or missed it completely.

Hi! I applied to OHSU's ABSN program in Ashland and I just received a phone call today that I was accepted!!! I was told I wouldn't find out until April so this was a great surprise!

Congrats BWright, that is awesome for you. I wish I would have gotten a phone call as well, I wonder if they called everyone at once. Just out of curiosity, what was your cumulative gpa?

Thank you! My nursing GPA was 4.0. My cumulative was 3.8 I think? I had a really bad GPA my first two years of college, but straight As after that. I'm a volunteer firefighter-EMT and work as an ER tech. I'm almost certain my essays were awful, so I think my GPA and medical experience helped (although, I read in a prior post on this thread that medical experience isn't considered? Not sure). My stats class was 5 years and 2 months expired, so I submitted a waiver. I didn't think I'd get in because of this but I guess the waiver helped!

EDIT: just looked on nursingCAS. My cumulative GPA was 3.54. That sounds about right. I was pre-med right out if high school and hated it but was too embarrassed to drop out because I thought it meant I was stupid. So like a smart little 18-year-old, I continued in the major and kept getting Cs, Ws, and an F over the course of two years. I'm glad the poor decisions of my life were overlooked in the decision process. :-/

Your welcome, and again congrats, it's good that you are stoked to go. My application is very similar to yours, my cumulative is a 3.5 even, and my prereq is 6 A's and 1 B (if I ace stats and bio which I'm currently enrolled in). I also did poorly my first few semesters but have gotten basically straight A's since; raising your GPA is tough after receiving a few C's. Well the fact that we have similar grades and healthcare experience gives me hope, maybe I'll get my call tomorrow, keep your fingers crossed for me.

Excellent! I definitely will. Keep us updated! :)

Has anyone heard from the Portland campus yet?

Just got an email that the Portland campus decisions will be delayed. They are being made the week of March 31st with decision letters made the week of April 7th.

If anyone is looking for housing, I have a connection to one of the study-co-ops next to the School of Nursing. Just PM me on here for info!

Hi! I can't use the PM feature for some reason. I was accepted into the Ashland ABSN program and I am looking for housing this summer! Are your connections with Ashland or just Portland? Thanks!

Specializes in Pediatrics, Women's Health, Primary Care.

Just Portland- sorry :( This is the first year for the Ashland Acc Bacs-- good luck!!

Really? They've never done an ABSN program in Ashland? I didn't know that. Do you know how big the absn ashland cohort will be?
