Hello,
I thought I'd start a thread about anyone currently applying to any of the OHSU Nursing programs for the 2014 cohort. I currently have three applications in with them: Accelerated BSN to MSN: Psychiatric Mental Health, Accelerated BSN, and the traditional BSN Program. Has anyone had any word from them? I know that the Accel. programs have closed both their applications. Any word on interviews or scheduling?
I am currently finishing up my preqs at PCC. I am working full-time and am just flustered. I hate not knowing anything with regard to where I stand or what type of candidate they are looking for.
Does anyone else feel similarly?
How did you answer your essay questions?
I'm curious for knowledge to see if I made the boat or missed it completely.

Did anyone apply to MHNP or any NP program as a senior in BSN school, prior to becoming eligible for RN licensure? I am going to be a senior in nursing school next year and am thinking about applying to OHSU's MHNP program, but don't know if it's feasible for someone with no RN experience who will not even have an RN license until after the application deadline.
Hey Debra, I also applied to the ABSN program in Ashland. I guess we should know something by early April but I have to admit the suspense is killing me. I was bummed to learn that previous healthcare experience has no bearing on admittance as I am already a respiratory therapist; hopefully my grades are good enough...
Priorities-- they do admit students directly out of BSN programs for PMHNP and Midwifery, so it is worth it to apply! They do encourage you to interview in person since that is a big factor in the application process, but can do skype or phone interviews. Several ABSN students applied this year :)

House sharing through Craigslist can be a great option if you're on a budget. Sounds sketchy but I've had good luck with it in portland. I always meet people first though. East of the river is cheaper, especially north and far south in SE, or Beaverton/Tigard area but that's at least a 20 min commute with traffic if you're at OHSU or Linfield. Or rent a place and offer rooms to other nursing students! That's what I might do. I'll have two rooms open in June but I live pretty far out so I'm not sure.
