Ontario Second-Entry Nursing (2017)

World Canada CA Programs

Hey everyone :)

So fall just flew in so I thought what a great time it would be to start my nursing applications lol. It is very early, but I enjoy having this on my mind. I am in my final year at University and am hoping to be a nursing student come next September. I wanted to make a space where we could come together with a common goal: getting accepted. The schools I plan to apply are:

Trent, Toronto, Humber, Western and Queens

Possibly considering RPN programs as well.

Hey Rhythm0! What! Well now I'm even more confused :( I'm also finishing my physiology/anatomy pre req and I had multiple conversations with Western in the fall of 2016 about when I should aim to get my marks in, as originally I was planning on finishing it in June (because working full time and finishing a full credit course in 4 months is extremely difficult, so I wanted a little more time). When I said that, she told me that it would be better for my chances if I got my marks in sooner because all the first spots would go to people who had all the requirements (i.e. pre-reqs done), and that say in the case that myself and someone else had the same credentials but they had that pre-req and I was still waiting to submit my mark, that the spot would go to the other person. That's how I understood the conversation. Idk maybe I misinterpreted what she said but I definitely was under the impression that they would use any outstanding pre-reqs to make a decision :( congrats on your acceptance though! That's awesome!:)

Hmm.. maybe it's because your marks would be in by June? I'm assuming that's after they want to make their decisions regarding everyone's application, so they prefer final marks before that? I'm doing the online course through Queen's which ends in April and someone from the Nursing program said that it shouldn't be a problem. I agree though - it's difficult to finish a course, work full-time, and still maintain relations!

Hey @Rhythm0, how did you find out about your conditional offer from Western? Did they email you, did you find out through the student portal or through OUAC, or did they mail you something? Thanks :)

Hey! I received an email stating that I had an unviewed letter in the student center website which outlined the conditional offer. The status on ouac changed the next day and I received mail from them ~ a week later.

does anyone apply for the Ryerson nursing program?

I finished my prerequisites at UNB (anatomy and psychology, both A+). I finished my master and bachelor outside of Canada. I applied for accelerated programs at U of T and Humber. but I'm still waiting to hear from them. this is really frustrating

@Faribadsh:

I did, I got into the Ryerson/GB Program, which is my second choice. I also received offers from the Ryerson/Centennial Program, but did not receive an offer from the Ryerson Main Program. Although, I did submit my supplementary form pre-maturely and did not fill out one section for the Ryerson Main site, so that most likely contributed to that. I do not think that there is much difference between the three.

@future.R.N. - Unfortunately I'm not able to send you a private message back regarding BIOL 235 (I don't have enough posts yet), but I write my final in the first week of April, and cannot WAIT to be done. I don't know about you, but I find it so frustrating how the study guides contain so much information and then the exams only cover about 0.3% of what you learned for each chapter. And it's pretty much impossible to guess what the 0.3% will be haha. But just stick to learning the major topics, don't get too swamped with details, and you'll do great!

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if you accept an offer, do you receive offers from other universities ?

I got accepted into Trent and I have to accept by the end of April, which will be before other universities send their admissions.

Thanks :)

Yup, you will continue to receive other offers from other universities. If you want to accept another offer down the road, you just have to write to OUAC to inform them about the change and they'll edit your acceptance.

For the people that have been accepted to Trent, what was your average in the last two years!? Just trying to judge where I stand now that they're sending out acceptances :)

I have a 10.8 in a 12.0 scale, that is a high A-, almost an A (11.0). Hope it helps :). But I believe they weigh in the CASPER scores too. If you did your CASPER in February they may not send an acceptance until they have those results.

Has anyone's York application show CASPer as received yet?

Same question as Rhythm0, but for Nipissing SPP. Does anyone's applicant portal say that the school has received the CASPer results? Mine still does not show anything, even though Leah from CASPer said that all results have been distributed. :(
