Ontario Second-Entry Nursing (2017)

World Canada CA Programs

Hey everyone :)

So fall just flew in so I thought what a great time it would be to start my nursing applications lol. It is very early, but I enjoy having this on my mind. I am in my final year at University and am hoping to be a nursing student come next September. I wanted to make a space where we could come together with a common goal: getting accepted. The schools I plan to apply are:

Trent, Toronto, Humber, Western and Queens

Possibly considering RPN programs as well.

I spoke with a school that requires CASPER, and wrote mine in Janurary, and they haven't received them yet. They are hoping they come in the next week, I'm assuming there was some sort of delay, since CASPER usually has a 2-3 week turn around from what I have read/heard.

Haha, of course there is a delay! :(

I spoke with someone from CASPer just last week and they informed me that results take up to 3-4 weeks to process. I wasn't told about any delays from CASPer's end. It may be that because they do several rounds of the test, that they wait until all the tests have been administered before processing and sending to the universities (but I'm not entirely sure).

Has anyone heard from Lakehead by the way? They informed me that their first rounds of offer are typically sent out in early March but I haven't heard anything yet.

Hey! I received my offer from Lakehead today. Check your application status because that changed on mine a day before I got the email :)

@Rhythm0

Thanks for the heads up! I've been checking all day and haven't seen any changes on their website. Hopefully I'll hear back from them soon. :)

Hey guys,

I wrote my CASPer test on January 24th and this morning my supplementary application status on Mosaic changed to completed, so the CASPer results should start showing up at other schools soon. :)

Woohoo I wrote mine in January too so this is exciting news!!

Hey guys!

My supplementary application on Mosaic has changed to completed as well! I wrote my CASPer on Feb 16 so that seems fairly fast. Are we sure this is referring to CASPer or could it be the prerequisite form?

@2017hopeful If you are talking about McMaster, I am almost certain the supplementary application means the CASPer test. I called admissions this week to ask a few questions, and she said in regards to why my supplementary application not being completed yet (it is now though!), is because they were waiting on the late February CASPer tests to come in. Kinda confusing though! Not sure why there isn't a section to acknowledge the pre-req form!

Yup! The supplementary app refers to CASPer. The admissions officer told me that files/forms sent directly to the program and not to the registrar/admissions won't appear on Mosaic.

Hi everyone!

I used this forum last year when I was applying to schools and found it super helpful at easing my anxiety so I thought I'd offer my two cents and answer questions if you have any!

I'm in the first year of U of T's accelerated program. I have a degree in psychology and neuroscience from U of T and took a fifth year of undergrad because I didn't really know what I wanted to do until the end of my fourth year. My GPA in my last two years was a 3.6 and my GPA in my last 5 credits was ~3.7.

I received my acceptance near the end of April.

I also applied to Mac, Humber and two Ryerson campuses. I got accepted to Mac and Ryerson but not Humber. I know this time of year is super stressful but just hang in there! We're all in this together!

Thank you so much for your post!! Definitely helps the anxiety a TON! :)

@Toronto2bNurse2016 Do you remember around what time you got accepted to McMaster, and did you get accepted before or after all of your pre-req marks were in?
