Ontario Second-Entry Nursing (2017)

Published

Hey everyone :)

So fall just flew in so I thought what a great time it would be to start my nursing applications lol. It is very early, but I enjoy having this on my mind. I am in my final year at University and am hoping to be a nursing student come next September. I wanted to make a space where we could come together with a common goal: getting accepted. The schools I plan to apply are:

Trent, Toronto, Humber, Western and Queens

Possibly considering RPN programs as well.

Has anyone heard from York yet?

Also, am I the only one who obsessively checks my application multiple times a day? Streesssssssss.

Thank you nicbrad_ for the tips for CASPer! I wrote the test this past Thursday as well. As far as I know, it will take up to ~4 weeks for the results to even be processed and sent to the schools so it will be a while until we hear from any of those schools. Hopefully it doesn't take that long, but for now it's just a waiting game.

I applied to quite a few schools because I was anxious about the process, so I'll be sitting on my Humber acceptance for a bit (it's not a far commute for me so it would be a good fit). Hopefully the waiting process for the other schools isn't painful but I feel like it will be unfortunately! Good luck everyone :)

Hope it went well for you! Fingers crossed :)

I applied two second entry nursing programs (Humber and u of t). does anyone know the number of applicants will be accepted for each of these institutes?

Does anyone know if Western gives conditional acceptances to applicants currently enrolled in a prerequisite course? Thanks!

We probably won't hear from York for a while. The CASPer alone takes around a month to process. I'm in the same boat though - desperately wanting to hear back from York haha.

Has anyone else heard from Queens other then the couple of people who posted? Curious to know their cut off GPA

I did mine in January so it should already be processed! But I agree it probably will take forever! Ugh.

I just got accepted to Western and can confirm that the more times you check your admission status in a day, the sooner the status will be updated!

I applied in October and all of my documents were received by UWO in mid-November. My average from the last 10 full course equivalents was 86-92% (hard to know for sure with the conversion from letter grades to % using the OMSAS scale).

Amazing! Congrats Blitzenbadger! Are you currently working on any pre-reqs? Wondering if they hand out conditional acceptances, or not.

Thank you kindly! I took Athabasca's BIOL 235 course for the A&P prerequisite last summer. All of my pre-reqs were complete when I applied so I don't know about conditional acceptances from UWO.

@blitzenbadger

I'm currently taking that course as well and kind of worried for the final exam. Would you mind sharing your final grade in the course? I'm really hoping to get into Western and am not sure what ballpark my A&P grade should be in...

Thanks!

The final exam was similar to the midterms - just longer. I spent the least amount of time on the last 1/3 of the course and as a result, found the final exam to be a bit harder than the midterms. In the end, I got an A in the course. Good luck with your studying!
