Ontario Second-Entry Nursing (2017)

Published

Hey everyone :)

So fall just flew in so I thought what a great time it would be to start my nursing applications lol. It is very early, but I enjoy having this on my mind. I am in my final year at University and am hoping to be a nursing student come next September. I wanted to make a space where we could come together with a common goal: getting accepted. The schools I plan to apply are:

Trent, Toronto, Humber, Western and Queens

Possibly considering RPN programs as well.

I wrote mine in January and it's a really weird test to prepare for but I ended up buying a simulation through Astroff Consultants ($25) and it actually did help me a lot. Not in terms of the content persay but more getting used to that 5min time limit....which is probably the most challenging part of the whole thing. They say just being able to pick out the important points and being able to type your thoughts quickly and concisely is the key! Also try and go into it as relaxed as possible - I was blasting dance music in headphones the hour before, I brought in a hot tea and snack with me and made sure I was wearing comfy clothes. Anything that helped me relax and focus better :) Good luck!

This was meant to be a reply for 2017hopeful on the 8th page lol :)

Just got a conditional offer to Humber! :)

Allnurses comments helped when I was applying, so here's my info:

Accepted to Humber 2nd entry today!

GPA of last two years of my undergrad was 3.6 or 81.85%

All the best to everyone out there!

Hey @Hopefulgal

Thank you for the reply, that was really assuring. With the acceptances rolled out already, I was quite worried as to why it said proof of uni-level education was missing. I'm guessing (hoping) that they're issuing acceptances based on the order of the applications i.e., on a first-come basis.

Does anyone know around what time McMaster and Western will start handing out their earliest acceptance letters? Do either of these schools give out conditional acceptances for those student who are completing a pre-req this term?

I'm not sure about McMaster but I know Western started handing out acceptances in early March last year. They were to students with averages of 87%+ . I think they hand out conditional acceptances to those with very high averages, but I'm not entirely sure.

has anyone applied to any RPN programs at colleges for a backup?

Just got an offer from Queen's!! :D

still waiting for UofT, McMaster, Western, and UBC.

Just in case some of you are wondering,

I sent my application through OUAC in December

and submitted all my secondaries around 10th of January!

congrats! Can i ask what your GPA was?

Who else just did their CASPER and are waiting for an acceptance at Trent?! I'm super nervous because it's the only school I want to go to. I've applied to UofT, Ryerson (4 year) and UOIT (4 year), but really want to go to Trent, since I'm in second year at UofT right now, and would love to move out of the city for a change.

Does anyone know when they start accepting people or has anyone gotten in already?

I did CASPer last Thursday. I think they start accepting people starting in April

Thank you nicbrad_ for the tips for CASPer! I wrote the test this past Thursday as well. As far as I know, it will take up to ~4 weeks for the results to even be processed and sent to the schools so it will be a while until we hear from any of those schools. Hopefully it doesn't take that long, but for now it's just a waiting game.

I applied to quite a few schools because I was anxious about the process, so I'll be sitting on my Humber acceptance for a bit (it's not a far commute for me so it would be a good fit). Hopefully the waiting process for the other schools isn't painful but I feel like it will be unfortunately! Good luck everyone :)
