Ontario Second-Entry Nursing

World Canada CA Programs

Published

Hi Everyone!

This is super early to talk about applying to nursing school for 2016, but it's always better to be well-prepared! Let's share some thoughts and help each other out!

I am re-applying to nursing schools as I did not get in last year, and planning to enroll to more courses for pre-reqs and to increase my GPA (I graduated with a B.A.)hopefully this year will be much better and with luck!!!!

I have a few universities in mind to apply -

  1. University of Toronto
  2. York
  3. Nipissing
  4. Western
  5. Queen's
  6. McMaster

Should I apply to more? Which one should I apply? I am super eager to enter the program and I failed once, failing twice is not allowed!

Feel Free to give me suggestions or ask questions! Here is a link I found online listing most of the second entry nursing programs.

Best wishes to everyone! Good Luck!

I'm applying too.. In ON: Queen's and UofT. Good luck everyone! :)

Good luck to all. It can be a stressfuk process (as I experienced last year).

For humber I was offered and I had a 3.2 GPA last 2 years. I went with nipissing because it's a very innovative and self directed program, plus we get more clinical hours (202.5 per semester and 303.75 for consolidation).

My advice to others would be to consider your learning style and try to match it with a program. You'll be much happier for the 2 years if you do.

Does anyone know if Queen's looks at grades only or is there a supplementary application as well?

Queens has a supplementary application

Okay thank you

I believe I saw people getting in with around a 3.4-3.5 for UoT.. they don't post their statistics so it's difficult to be sure.

I had around an 84 or 85% average on my last year, which is what U of T uses. I was placed on the waitlist and ultimately did not get in. I believe a large part of the admission decision is based on the supplementary application, because there were many people with similar grades to me who did get in.

Ah, the ever important component of adaptation of one's learning style...:Dracula: i.e. what I have to do for this stupid Athabasca BIOL 235 prereq.

Um, ....how can I find out which programs match specific learning styles? Would you tell me super briefly if you know for Queen's vs. UofT???

Does anyone know what the UofT reference form asks for?

does it matter if the grades for the prerequisite courses are lower than B but the overall gpa for 60 credits is over B+

ugh.. taking BIOL235 from Athabasca as well! just finished all part 1.. and getting ready for part 2 now. have you taken midterm 2 yet?

Hi! Nope, working through the chapters... It'd be nice to "know someone" in the class, I think it'd be super helpful to talk about the material to help remember it... I wish there was a message board for all the students in the class to communicate with one another.

Does anyone know what the UofT reference form asks for?

Good question, I can tell you when I get to that part of my application... Still need to fill out that super-detailed completed prerequisite part:Evil-Pumpkin:
