Ontario Second-Entry Nursing
Good luck to all. It can be a stressfuk process (as I experienced last year). For humber I was offered and I had a 3.2 GPA last 2 years. I went with nipissing because it's a very innovative and self directed program, plus we get more clinical hours (202.5 per semester and 303.75 for consolidation). My advice to others would be to consider your learning style and try to match it with a program. You'll be much happier for the 2 years if you do.

"You have been placed in the first group of the BScN waitlist. Should there is any spot, candidates in this group will be considered first. You will be immediately contacted by the Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing if a vacancy in the program becomes available. It is difficult for us to predict how many candidates will be admitted from the wait list at this time. In previous years, the number of admitted students from the wait list could range from a few to over 20. We are monitoring our acceptance rate closely. If spots are available, waitlisted candidates will be notified by Sept 4." Exact quote from the email

Ontario Second-Entry Nursing (2015)
So after being "rejected" by UofT earlier this month, I received a surprising email today where they waitlisted me and put me in the first group. I already have accepted an offer from Nipissing and really want to go there, but for anyone who received a rejection on June 8th, it may have been error.

I already live in Toronto. My main suggestion is that you find a place that is on the TTC line, especially if you're placement is Toronto Public Health.

Maky - I checked on OUAC and here's what it says: BSc Nursing - Scholar Practitioner Program Offered Admission Must take anatomy & physiology by the end of your first year Also, for those who are on the waitlist for Nipissing SPP, offers expire July 3, 2015 (or at least mine does), so you may not hear anything until that point. =)

I have not finished the anatomy prerequisite for nipissing as I just did physiology. I was offered admission (not conditional) on Web advisor. However I'll have to see what my letter says.

I have less interest in paediatric nursing. Considering you would do most of your placements in that area it is something I have to consider in making my final decision. Either way one person will get a spot opened up. :)

I was accepted to the Nipissing SPP. It is my first choice, but it also depends on the placement - as I don't want Sick Kids as my main one. I will likely be declining Humber soon as a result, so hopefully that opens up a spot for someone on here. =)

Awesome - congrats to everyone! I also just received an acceptance. iak93 - I would recommend calling Nipissing to see what they still require and/or wait until you receive the letter.

Unfortunately it looks like there's only speculation about what their process is at this point. We'll just have to wait and hope that it's resolved soon. =)

I heard from someone else that they did not get into the program and the webadvisor showed up as rejected. I'm wondering if they send out rejections first? The suspense is killing me now.

I also just got accepted to Humber Second Entry. It's my second choice right now, with Nipissing SPP as my first. I was accepted to Trent as well, but just declined this afternoon - I hope someone who is waiting on here will get that spot. I haven't heard anything from UofT, but I really don't want to go there anyway. I totally shifted my perspective on UofT based on my bad experience in undergrad with them. I only applied as I thought I had a good chance to get in and wanted to increase my chances. Yet, when I tell others that I have almost no interest in UofT (I would've preferred Trent if it was in Toronto), people seem to be a bit baffled by it. Oh well.

Reflecting back on it, it was very short. I was in and out in just over 15 min. I think it went well. I answered all the questions as best as I could. I asked them if they felt I had any gaps and they thought I covered the essentials and it was down to the competition. Good luck to all. =)
