Hey everyone!
I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!
My choices are:
1. UofT
2. McMaster
3. Nipissing SPP
I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.
I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:
1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine. This satisfies all 3 unis
2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto. I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.
I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.
It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

I have a friend currently in nursing at McMaster and she does it through there every year. They only had one date open for July within places I was looking to go so I guess I impulsively booked it LOL. Although I wanted to have it booked and out of the way so I can focus on my A&P that I have to finish by June.
I'm going to UofT in Sept. too and also found the websites super confusing. I will try to book it in a similar way, thanks for the heads up!!

I have to take the go train at about 5:40am (wake up at 5am) to make it for a 7am shift, but honestly for me personally, the commute is not bad. I usually study or read on the train, and waking up early is definitely annoying but you just have to manage your time. Also, I heard for UofT that the clinicals are currently only 1-2x per week? So it might be easier to just do that if they're not going to be 3x a week when we first start. Not sure tho! Sorry if this wasn't helpful but I thought I'd go ahead and mention that for me personally, commuting downtown isn't that bad!
I agree with this! I find it nice to just review on the train or even give yourself time to relax and unwind and listen to a podcast/watch Netflix or something like that. Honestly sometimes I even fell asleep my commute and subway/go train naps are surprisingly nice LOL. I also heard with UofT the first bit of clinical are 1 time a week, occasionally 2 times a week but for a shorter number of weeks (if that makes sense).

Im going July 5th downtown, if you're in the area join me! it'll be a great way to meet some of my new classmates ?

No, this post was actually really helpful!! Financially it does make sense, but I'm honestly just worried about how exhausted I will feel most days waking up so early...I went to UofT for undergrad so ik how intense it is so I'm mainly worried about commuting taking a lot of time away from studying ?
I was thinking of renting with roommates downtown with other ppl from the program to try to save some money and also be with ppl with a similar schedule

You would save a lot of money by commuting, but that’s if you’re okay with waking up so early! I’m not sure if this was any help haha, but commuting would definitely be a money saver (unless you have roommates to pay for rent with you).
I was hoping to try to live with roommates to bring the rent cost down to 750ish. I saw some places with this price range!

Especially with classes being up in the air, I think I am going to commute downtown and try it out. I've heard of a lot of people doing this, and although it does suck it is doable. It just depends on your priorities and other life commitments you have, as well as if you can financially afford to rent downtown since it is super expensive.
Do you also live a similar distance away? Im honestly just worried about being tired most days and not having time to study...

I’m going through the exact same decision, deciding on whether to rent downtown or commute. If I do chose the renting route I’m glad it sounds like there is other people in the program who would be willing to rent a place together. This part stresses me out the most as I don’t want to live with random people and would much rather live with individuals who are in the same program and have the same priorities!

Totally agree! I want to live with other ppl in the program since it's a great way to meet others but you also have a similar mindset in terms of respecting others while studying etc.
If I do decide to rent, I will prob post in the UofT FB group in June or so, so stay tuned!!

Yea I'd have to leave my house around 5 ish to get to a clinical that starts at 7. I am not going to lie it does suck but you honestly get used to it and it can be kind of relaxing after a while. Just try to be productive on your commute, or use it as your you time. I know thats what I would do and then when I finished my commute and got to studying I was focused and didn't watch anything or do anything to distract myself.
I think at the end of the day it'll depend on if you can afford it. You have to keep in mind if you can find a place close enough where you may not have to take transit at all or if you would have to factor in the price of transit as well. I think you can have a bit more time to think about it. Hopefully by June we can have more information regarding scheduling to understand how it may be working this year.

Im super excited to meet people! I honestly was very quiet during my undergrad the first time around and I think it was because of how large the programs were, and my program didn't talk much to start. I am hoping to make more friends through this especially with people who have similar interests.

Agreed! Even though I will be a commuter, I'm going to try to get as involved as I can. I also heard clinicals are a great way to meet people with the small group sizes so I'm super excited!! More excited than I was for my original undergrad ?

Honestly me too! I told myself I want to be more involved, meet more people, and be more social overall. I have heard of lots of people making friends through clinical, and its nice because you're not always with the same clinical groups either so it does give you a chance to really meet a lot of people!
