Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2021

Published

Hey everyone!

I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!

My choices are:

1. UofT

2. McMaster

3. Nipissing SPP

I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.

I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:

1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine.  This satisfies all 3 unis

2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto.  I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.

I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.

It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

I got an acceptance to Western today ?

So far I have been accepted to both Western and York, exciting times!!

Does anyone know when Nipissing traditionally gives out offer letters in April?

Yay I also got a conditional offer from Western today!!

Last year they gave them out in March. This year their supplementary application said they give them out in April, and I believe someone on the forum said sometime "later this month". I believe in years before COVID they did interviews and the application process took a bit longer so its kind of a gamble in finding out when they plan on releasing them. I am hoping sooner than later since its just making me so nervous especially hearing so many people get in! If its any consolation last year they sent out acceptances mid March around the 19th I believe (hopefully they won't wait that long this year but we shall see)

Do you know if you can get into a Masters of Science in Nursing program after? Your diploma ends up being accredited from UNB right?

Anyone know how Humbers 2y program works? I got accepeted but I noticed we have a prepatory semester in sept-dec and then does the semester begin in jan 2022 or...? how long is the program? and do we get the UNB degree?

Anyone know how trents nursing program is? seems like the entrance isn't too hard so im wondering if its a credible source?

So for the humber 2 yr program, the prep semester is frpm sept-dec and the actual program begins in jan 2022 and the actual program is 2 years long and you get a UNB degree.

I just have a questions about the masters program!

So after getting experience working as a RN, I would like to further my education and do a masters, specifically to become a nurse practitioner.

I was wondering if it would be possible to get a masters in Asia, and then come back and work as a nurse practitioner?

I have relatives in South Korea and would like to live and study there for a couple of years to stay close to them but come back to Canada and work as a nurse practitioner afterwards.

SK's NP Program is not the same as how it is regulated in North America (I'm Korean) and the scope of practice is different. I would direct that questions to CNO or any other regulatory bodies that you wish to work as NP later, but I'm pretty sure it won't work.

I was thinking that was the case as I was trying to tell my relatives about the nurse practitioner program and they didn't know what that was.

Do you think it would be ideal to just get a masters in nursing that's research based and then come back to Canada and earn a nurse practitioner certificate?

Sorry about the questions btw!
