Hey everyone!
I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!
My choices are:
1. UofT
2. McMaster
3. Nipissing SPP
I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.
I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:
1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine. This satisfies all 3 unis
2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto. I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.
I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.
It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

I applied and have been accepted to the program! If I don't get accepted to Mac or UofT I plan to go to Humber ? There's a virtual open house on the program today from 1:00PM to 1:50PM, which I plan to attend. If there's anything of note, I'll post some information here
The program opened up a couple of months ago and it was rolling admission. They accept like 35-40 people only. I would call and see what their numbers are at, because once they are full that's it. Which I think is obv. unfair because why take money from other applicants who aren't even going to be looked at. They said their cut off is an A average in the last 60 credits so far for the people who have been accepted already (it's just marks based). And make sure you have everything they are looking for pre-reqs wise. I applied late and am thinking it may been a waste of money, but oh well can't do much now.
Good luck !

Can I ask when you applied? I'm still waiting to hear back and congratulations!

Thanks! ❤️ I think I applied in the first week of March (can’t access the Ontario colleges portal right now to confirm). And it took about 3 weeks for me to hear back from them once I submitted my application.

When did you apply? I applied later in the cycle too! I didn’t realize the program had been opened, since it was closed to make way for the Humber-based program, but the UNB program was brought back for COVID-19. So I applied around 1-2 months later than the people who first applied.

I applied last week of March. I didn't know about the program beforehand. And I spoke to them and that was the information they shared with me (regarding marks etc). (Btw I'm referring to the 2nd entry program, 2 yrs to become an RN)

Okay interesting. I thought it opened in Feb. I guess I have to wait a 1/2 more weeks to hear back it seems.
It also only has preliminary approval from CNO, once the first cohort graduates they will assess the program for full approval. https://www.cno.org/en/become-a-nurse/approved-nursing-programs/RN-programs/
This will be the last intake of UNB/Humber nurses for the second entry program. Going forward it will be purely Humber's second entry. For anyone considering the second entry, it's important to keep in mind that they're going to admit more students than there are spots for. They purposely will have designed the preparatory semester to be difficult and factor in people failing to meet the 74% mark in all 5 courses. Likely so that they can cash in on tuition fees.
The program structure is also closer to 3 years than 2 at most other second entry/accelerated/compressed nursing programs. So much so that if you took the year off, reapplied to an actual 2-year program for next year, you would only graduate 4 months after the UNB/Humber second entry beginning this September. All while saving on a year of tuition.
To anyone curious about the 2nd entry humber program's virtual open house. They didn't really talk about the program at all, they mainly focused on their 4-year bachelor's degree, and the RPN program. So that's a huge red flag that's turned me off from the school. Will likely go to Queen's over Humber if my local choices reject me LOL
For Humber Second Entry, one of the moderators answered a question saying that a competitive cut-off average is ~3.4/80% but from my experience, an 80% = 3.7 = A-. Is anyone able to help clarify this?
Also, for Humber, when does the Second Entry Program actually start? The prep semester for the pre-reqs (if you don't have them) starts in September 2021 and ends in December 2021... so does that mean everyone (including those who previously met the prereqs) officially start in December 2021?
Thanks in advance!

You would officially start January 2022 and end April 2024
