Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2021

Published

Hey everyone!

I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!

My choices are:

1. UofT

2. McMaster

3. Nipissing SPP

I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.

I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:

1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine.  This satisfies all 3 unis

2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto.  I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.

I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.

It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

For Humber Second Entry, one of the moderators answered a question saying that a competitive cut-off average is ~3.4/80% but from my experience, an 80% = 3.7 = A-. Is anyone able to help clarify this?

Also, for Humber, when does the Second Entry Program actually start? The prep semester for the pre-reqs (if you don't have them) starts in September 2021 and ends in December 2021... so does that mean everyone (including those who previously met the prereqs) officially start in December 2021?

Thanks in advance!

They said the same to me regarding the GPA cutoff, I guess they have their own scale/method. Because when I asked admissions regarding it she just said it's an A average/3.4 in the last 60 credits. Sept. 2021-Dec. 2021 is the preparation semester which you can get exemption for if you have those credits. So Jan. 2022 you would start the Nursing portion and it's says it takes you 2 years to complete it.

Hey everyone! Another worried applicant for Mac here LOL...I was just wondering what everyone is talking about when they say sub-GPA in reference to Mac. Does that consist of your last terms average or your average from the past 2 years?

That's so strange... 3.4 is more like a B/B+? No? I wish they had a public GPA scale/table available :/

To anyone curious about the 2nd entry humber program's virtual open house. They didn't really talk about the program at all, they mainly focused on their 4-year bachelor's degree, and the RPN program. So that's a huge red flag that's turned me off from the school. Will likely go to Queen's over Humber if my local choices reject me LOL

I’d choose Queen’s over Humber regardless bc of the actual program haha

They use a 4.3 scale! You can find it here: https://humber.ca/sites/default/files/uploads/documents/humb-unb_transcript_key_v1.pdf

Still seems like a 3.7 would be an A but IDK ?‍♀️

Iddkkk, maybe they think 3.3 is at the top of the range and = 79% and anything higher (I.e. 3.4) is 80%... who knowsss

Stress level is crazy high

Hi

I just wondering that if anybody get conditional offer. He or she just need to fulfil only that condition? For example  I am doing two perquisites but when I get offer , it just say condition to complete particular Ly only one prerequisite like psychology. Offer letter does not mention other prerequisite.

In this case will I need to complete only that prerequisite or both.

Please I just want to know that conditional offer means , you have to complete what they asked???

I suggest completing both. There’s no harm in doing so.

Thank you ... I am doing that. Just not sure that I will get 70% in the prerequisite that the university does not mention, but I am doing well in my conditioned prerequisite.
