Hey everyone!
I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!
My choices are:
1. UofT
2. McMaster
3. Nipissing SPP
I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.
I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:
1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine. This satisfies all 3 unis
2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto. I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.
I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.
It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

I hope everyone is holding out okay, whether you have received offers or not, you are amazing, you are intelligent, and you are kind! please do not forget that. It is only the beginning of April, there is still so much time for us to hear from various schools. please do your best to take care of yourselves in the meantime.
In saying that, I thought it was about time for me to make one of these accounts since I have been stalking them throughout the application process.. haha
Seeing as though today was UofT day, I have a question. What is everyone's top school, and why is the reason for that? Specifically, though I am curious about UofT since I have struggled to find resources online about the program. Those of you who have either heard from UofT/waiting to hear from UofT, is it your top school, if so why?
For me, uoft was the one and only (it was a gamble LOL). UofT always gets ranked as world-class every year, and NCLEX rate has been consistently great as well... UofT also gives out various rotation schedules including post partum, ped, med-surg, mental health, geriatric all in their first years, while some schools don't even have ped or post partum placements. these are primarily why I wanted uoft so bad.
fast-forward, opinion as a first year student:
ngl... we do have privilege as uoft nursing students in some ways. All downtown hospitals are affiliated with uoft, and that bond sure is advantageous. e.g. Sickkids pretty much has a monopoly relationship with uoft nursing (this is from SickKids RNs and NPs.. literally. they told me this during my placement). Literally, we are one of the VERY few schools that are giving out placements from the very get-go (started in week 3 of the first semester), while some schools couldn't find spots for their graduating years in this pandemic era... I am very thankful for that. teaching-wise... some profs are big shots and they do teach really well (unfortunately not all LOL).
community-wise, it's quite a competitive environment, but since everyone shares the same goal, group work isn't as frustrating as undergrad LOL but I'm sure this is mostly the case for any accelerated programs. But honestly, I love my cohort. This community is the major thing that holds my sanity right now.
uoft isn't always the best, especially with students' mental health LOL but it sure serves its name value from time to time. that's mostly why I chose it.

I’ll most likely be declining UofT (if I get in) since uAlberta is my top choice.
U of A is #2 in Canada (right below Toronto) but it’s MUCH cheaper for me since I live in Edmonton. Toronto rent is crazy.
it’s more of a financial decision tbh

and a side note... the work environment for nurses is 1000000X better in alberta!as well as base pay! thats where I wanna end up once im done with my program.

Thanks for the kind words (and back at you)! UofT's a bit of a gamble for me as well, it's the only school I want to go to. I'm currently finishing up my undergrad here and honestly I'd just be really sad to have to leave. ? UofT has its reputation for being very gruelling (which I'm sure is only magnified in the nursing program, haha) but the research going on here is really great, especially at Bloomberg. At least from what I've heard, the nursing faculty really pushes you to get involved in research on campus. Not to mention you're pretty much guaranteed to get a clinical placement in the downtown hospitals since they're practically right on campus. The health sciences building is literally a 4 minute walk from Toronto General. ? I'm just crossing my fingers I get lucky this year LOL.

did you get an email?
No I just kept refreshing joinu and saw that it changed to "admitted", I got an email later this evening though!

I completed my prereqs. Graduated last year!

I knew the reason was because of my personal statement, I completely rushed it, did not even make my PS personal or connect it with important nursing values, and vaguely listed my EC's although I had pretty good ones. I was going through serious mental damage and homesickness during my first year of university, and my GPA is super low in first and second year, hence my cGPA is around a 3.35, but I was able to pull my final year GPA to a 4.0. I even had a few 50s in my first year and repeated my anatomy course pre-req!! Grades are not everything! They will seriously look at your app holistically! There is still a long way to go for offers as they give offers until the end of June so do not lose hope! I am rooting for all of you! You will all make amazing nurses <3.
CONGRATS! ❤️
Btw when you say that you vaguely listed your EC's, do you mean in your PS, or in the Leadership and Community Involvement section?
