Hey everyone!
I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!
My choices are:
1. UofT
2. McMaster
3. Nipissing SPP
I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.
I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:
1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine. This satisfies all 3 unis
2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto. I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.
I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.
It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

I feel like my sister had to pay for parking but if it is free that would be amazing!
Their website shows a practicum in first semester! I think it's in LTC but not positive.

They currently changed their parking rules because of the pandemic (given students financial situation). I have a strong feeling this won't change for the upcoming semester as well, but again, who knows!
And I know that LTC get a lot of flack as a practicum placement, but I feel like it's a good introduction as a nursing student. Like considering we won't know much in the beginning and may be easily overwhelmed, I think it's a great place to start!

Ah that makes sense.
I totally agree! I think LTC is the perfect place to start, plus there is no shortage of facilities that could probably use a set of extra hands.

I completed my undergrad in 2016, worked for a few years in my field (food science/nutritional science) and have realized I want a career change into nursing... I have always loved working with kids, so hoping to get into pediatrics!
Wondering if since I have been out of school it might affect my chances. I am currently taking an online human physiology (not for credit, more as a refresher).
I have my bachelor's degree from my home country in 2011 so that's quite a while! I don't think it matters as long as grades are fine. I think for some unis, they just ask that the prereqs be within the last 5 years or so.

They offer lots of placement experiences, starting in first semester, which I have read some schools don't do (hopefully covid won't mess this up for the incoming class).
A lot of accelerated programs do start placement in their first years just because of the nature of their programs! SPP starts pretty immediately, uoft starts in the 3rd week year 1 semester 1 (I'm from uoft), and I'm sure that is the case for other schools like western/macs
as per covid.. a lot of schools had to cancel/postpone/revise their practicum schedules. Uoft had to make students choose only one (normally we have both mental health and inpatient geriatrics) but for our cohort, we had to only choose one. thankfully school pushed a bit for second semester so now we do full rotations (med surg, ped, post partum). I know some schools are still struggling, especially GTA schools, so I'm pretty thankful in that sense ?

Hi Thanks so much I am honestly shocked! My GPA for last two years is around a 3.7, but my cgpa is very low a 3.25! I even left a question blank on casper so I am honestly surprised.

Thank you ? ANd I wrote it on January 12th I believe!
