Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2021

Published

Hey everyone!

I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!

My choices are:

1. UofT

2. McMaster

3. Nipissing SPP

I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.

I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:

1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine.  This satisfies all 3 unis

2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto.  I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.

I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.

It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

Thank you so much!!  I appreciate your positivity!!

where have you applied?

of course! this is a really stressful time honestly, waiting back on hearing from universities!! last week I couldn't stop checking my email or my OUAC or any of my application accounts!! ?? I've also applied to accelerated programs (basically anywhere I could!!) at uoft, mcmaster, queens, western, york and trent! and uottawa but LMAOO we all know how that went ? I'm really paranoid and hope to get into my top three (uoft, mac or queens/western) but I'll be happy being accepted anywhere!! ?

Hey! The exact same thing happened to me - I submitted on the 1st but it says received on the 2nd - and so I emailed them and asked and they said that since I submitted it on the 1st it is considered on time and is not late! So don’t stress you are all good ?

Awesome! Thank you so much!

Really hoping someone can answer this question for me, since (as we all probably know) the admissions teams right now are taking forever to respond to emails (and don't even take phone calls...) at least that's my experience with uOttawa.

This question is about calculating CGPA for admissions purposes.

I noticed that my grade for a class I took at Athabasca University was a B. However, their scale considers a mark between 75-79 as a B. I noticed that uOttawa considers a mark between 75-79 a B+. In this situation, would uOttawa consider my grade to be a B+ since that's what their scale is, or would it be calculated as a B? The B and B+ have different grade points (used to calculate GPAs) and I am thinking this could really affect my CGPA.

Does anyone know the answer to this? Thanks in advance ?

Right!! There definitely isn’t much information about the SPP program compared to the other accelerated programs, I’m just looking through old forums to get some info LOL. But it seems intriguing.

Hey there! I'm a current SPP student, so if you all don't mind, I'd like to give you a run-down of the program!

Thanks for the rundown of the program! It definitely gave me a better understanding of how the program is. I'm assuming interviews are not happening this year, so people with high gpas and who have passed the casper will get a spot. what was your GPA before accepting your offer?

My interview was also cancelled due to COVID in March 2020. I think I had about a 75-80 in my top 10 undergrad courses. Unfortunately we never get to know our CASPer scores. I got waitlisted but was eighth at the beginning of the list. It all worked out!

Hey everyone, yesterday I decided to submit a really last minute application to the Western compressed nursing program - deadline is Monday (Feb 15).

I was wondering if anyone could shed some insight into the application process. I submitted my application through OUAC, however since I completed Anatomy + Physiology via U of T School of Continuing Studies I need to submit my transcript from there on my own. Does anyone know how to go about doing this???

Thank you!!

That's awesome!! I'm so glad it worked out, and it seems like you enjoy the program. Good luck for the rest of the semester and I hope I can end up in the same position as you ?

Wow, the program sounds super interesting! Definitely not a style of learning that would work for me in this phase of life, but I'm sure it's a great fit for a lot of people ?

Hi!

I was also thinking about applying to Western this week. I’m taking the same course as well. Search “SCS transcript request” and you will find the Transcript Request form in the first result. Keep in mind that the transcript request timeline is 10 business days. You may want to check with Western to confirm their document deadline for the program, but I believe in is the same as the application deadline (Feb 15). That is why I didn’t end up applying...

Good luck! I hope everything works out for you!

I am pretty sure you will have to contact the school and request a transcript but it will probably take a while for them to send it to Western. Western also requests a CASPer test
