Hey everyone!
I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!
My choices are:
1. UofT
2. McMaster
3. Nipissing SPP
I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.
I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:
1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine. This satisfies all 3 unis
2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto. I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.
I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.
It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

You can take any of the prep semester courses either in Humber this September/ through UNB online this Summer. There's an application due June 1 which you need to be in contact with Humber if you want to opt for the UNB online. I think they need to approve it first before you enroll online. Humber can probably help direct you to courses equivalent to the ones required for prep sem. Or you can probably just look at UNB online for course that have the similar name.

I took those two courses online! I thought Microbiology was pretty easy tbh! I've learned most of the materials before. Pathophysiology was definitely a little more challenging, but so rewarding. They have an open book quizzes that is a good preparation for the NCLEX, so I thought it was extremely helpful and understanding.

Which of the schools did you apply to and which is your top choice

So I applied to UNB (Moncton), Western, McMaster and Dalhousie. I got accepted at UNB and Western. I still haven't heard from McMaster and waitlisted at Dalhousie.
Western was my top pick; however, because of COVID, and how the restrictions at NB are strict, it would be hard to come home during the break; therefore, I've decided to pick UNB to stay close to home! (also save money). I would love to go study in Ontario sometime later for a masters in the future!

do you think up until June means we'll hear back before June or including June?? so confusing OMG!

Hi, do you mind sharing why western was your top pick? I am still waiting and haven’t heard much about western on the thread. Thanks ?

I'm having a hard time finding either of the courses at Humber Online. Has anyone else successfully found the Microbiology or pathophysiology courses online? Thanks!

Of course! So, I'm from the Maritimes, and I've lived here all my life. Therefore, I wanted to experience living in a new province but also somewhere that's affordable. Western Nursing is one of the best programs in Canada, and what attracted me the most is their student experiences (heard great things from my friends), living expenses is affordable, scholarship/financial aid is amazing, and that you'll be done around 19 months (whereas others are around 24 months).
However, I just want to tell you that it doesn't matter where you go to school! ? What I've learned from this pandemic is to pick a school that's closest to home because you want to have the best support system and save as much money as you can! I want to do a Masters (nurse practitioner in Canada or do research in a different country) and I know my marks matter the most than the school I will attend. Hope this helps!
