Hey everyone!
I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!
My choices are:
1. UofT
2. McMaster
3. Nipissing SPP
I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.
I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:
1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine. This satisfies all 3 unis
2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto. I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.
I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.
It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

Western Nursing is one of the best programs in Canada, and what attracted me the most is their student experiences (heard great things from my friends), living expenses is affordable, scholarship/financial aid is amazing, and that you'll be done around 19 months (whereas others are around 24 months).
However, I just want to tell you that it doesn't matter where you go to school! ? What I've learned from this pandemic is to pick a school that's closest to home because you want to have the best support system and save as much money as you can! I want to do a Masters (nurse practitioner in Canada or do research in a different country) and I know my marks matter the most than the school I will attend. Hope this helps!
Oh I took these courses through UNB
How much time did you feel you had to study a day for each of the two courses? And did it take you the whole 6 months? Thanks for the earlier response!

They do! I think someone may have posted a quick run down of what clinical looks like in first year, but I can also share here!
I believe traditionally in first semester, half the semester was a geriatrics placement and the other half was maternity. However, due to covid this year, our first semester was either a mental health or geriatrics placement (not both). But we were still able to start right from September! We also had an in-person lab that ran once every two weeks in first semester (although I'm not sure how this compares this previous years).
In second semester, we have three rotations: pediatrics, acute adult care (I.e. general surgery, general medicine), and maternity (or more specifically, postpartum). And no labs.
I think under normal circumstances, the traditional schedule for first year has been: lectures + labs from Monday to Wednesday and then clinicals twice a week on Thursday and Friday.
If anyone has any other questions, let me know - I'd be happy to answer them ?
thank you so much for your detailed response!! looking forward to September!!
does anyone know how long it takes for the university to see we accepted our offer on OUAC?

For Microbiology and pathophysiology it took me around 2 months! I didn't have a job; therefore, I did study around 8 hours a day (4 hours per course). But if you have other priorities, it should take around 4 months!

Do we have to pay any deposit as of now? What are the next steps? Did anyone get their CPR certification? Are ya'll looking for houses?
Appreciate any help ?
Hello! ?
I don't think we have to pay any deposits as of now! I know there are non-academic requirements to be completed. Would love to connect if there's a facebook group to talk about housing/ next year ?

I agree with the non-academic requirements! Some of the vaccines and tests (I.e. the TB test) need to be done a certain period of time before/after getting the COVID vaccine and others need to be done a certain amount of time after one another, so I found it helpful to start early!

Do you mind sharing if you already booked for the TB test and CPR certification? Also, I got the first dose of COVID vaccine. IDK if I should get the TB test done ?

I haven't booked my CPR, but I have booked/done the TB test. I only needed the 1-step test (I've gotten a 2-step done in the past) and the timing worked well with when I could do that and get the COVID vaccine!

Hey, okay I don't wanna make anyone anxious or anything either but my GPA for my last 2 years was a 3.8. Maybe my CASPer score wasn't up to par? But yeah I'm tryna calm myself down right now cuz everything depends on acceptances this year for me BUT that being said - y'all will do just fine ❤️ I wish y'all the best of luck ?
