Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2020

World Canada CA Programs

Updated:   Published

Hey, I used to creep these forums for the past few years and they helped affirm my decision to apply to nursing school for Fall 2020. I didn't see one started for next year so I thought, why not start one?

I graduated a while back so I'm a bit older, but my top three choices are:

1. Queen's

2. McMaster

3. York

4. Humber-UNB

Hey everyone. I graduated with a BA in Psych in 2016 and have been contemplating a career change to nursing for some time now. I don’t have all my prerequisites for a compressed/second entry program; would unis allow me to apply to the basic 4yr stream? Or since I already have post-secondary education am I no longer eligible for that path? Sorry for such a silly question.

you can do 4 year path. tho I'd recommend taking necessary prereqs and apply for a compressed one. take a look at humber as well - I think they have loose prereq as they do prep semester.

if you end up doing 4 year, youll get some transfer credit as well (electives probably). my friend had psych from uoft and she just finished Ryerson 4 year. she had her first year prereqs waived. she loved it.

Thank you! That makes me feel much better.

Hello future TRENT compressed nurses! I've noticed a lot of people asking about if there is a page for this coming school year! I have checked a few times with no luck so I have made one (hopefully this is allowed). It is titled Trent University-Compressed Nursing 2020-2022 and has the following description, "A group where students who are starting or planning on attending Trent's Compressed Nursing in the Fall can discuss, connect, and ask questions regarding the program"

Has anyone heard from UofT regarding admissions scholarships? I think it has been asked before and was not answered but if anyone does hear back in the coming weeks, can you let us know? Thanks!! :)

Does anyone know how long Trent keeps giving out acceptances until? On the website it says until the end of May but I've heard they give them out later sometimes? I hope so LOL

Last year I got mine on June 10th!

Does anybody else's Western Student Center say "Further Grades Required" in the Status Details section? I'm really confused because I submitted an updated transcript like 2 weeks ago...

Hey! Never thought I'd actually get to post here; I've been creeping this forum since January, and did the same thing last year. I graduated from U of T with a BSc in 2017, worked 2 years in a doctor's office as a clinical assistant, and deciding to go to nursing school last year. I applied for 2nd entry programs, made it onto Western's waitlist, but never got in. I had also applied to 4 year programs as a backup, and therefore started my first year of nursing education in September in the York-Seneca collaborative program. I reapplied for 2nd entry programs this year, and actually got admitted to Trent a couple weeks ago, and to Western today (after uploading and sending my updated transcripts)!! It feels like a dream come true LOL. Anyway, the stuff you actually want to know: I have a 3.62 GPA for my last 10 FCEs, and a 3.87 for my last 5. Trent and Western both look at the last 10 I believe, so my 3.6 somehow got me in. Maybe my CASPer too, who knows. Also, I will be giving up my spot at Trent, so whoever is waiting, I hope it's for you! Best of luck to everyone, I hope you end up enjoying nursing as much as I am so far ?

Nothing yet! I got accepted mid-April.

Has someone created a facebook group for those accepted at UofT yet?

The nursing society created an official one for us, you can find it by searching: Class of 2022 - Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing (U of T)

I also haven't heard anything, accepted first week of April... someone posted here earlier saying they had asked about this and was told we would hear updates at the beginning of May
