Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2020

World Canada CA Programs

Updated:   Published

Hey, I used to creep these forums for the past few years and they helped affirm my decision to apply to nursing school for Fall 2020. I didn't see one started for next year so I thought, why not start one?

I graduated a while back so I'm a bit older, but my top three choices are:

1. Queen's

2. McMaster

3. York

4. Humber-UNB

Hey everyone! I'm a current 1st-year student in the Humber-UNB Second-Entry program. I'm happy to answer any questions regarding the application process or my experience so far. Best of luck, Future RNs! ?

Hello! Thank you for your post! ? Currently Humber-UNB is my first choice. How do you like your experience there and placement so far? What’s the schedule like after the prep semester (i.e., courses and placement layout). Are there any student nursing clubs?

Hey!! Might I ask when you submitted your application? I have a 3.7 GPA and I still haven't heard back, I gave them a call and they said they send out offers in the order that they were accepted - my last doc was submitted in January so I'm wondering if that's why? So stressed!

Haven't heard back from Trent yet. I think they wait for your Casper test.

I have a few friends in the program so I can share what I know about it. Classes are fairly large but seminars and simulations are in smaller groups. 1st placement is in long term care (psw work), then community, then another placement is either maternity or mental health (you choose; locations can be far, I know a lot of people who went to Oshawa, Lindsay and Coburg for placements). 3rd year level placements are acute and chronic. They are typically in PRHC (Peterborough's hospital). Final placement is 1-on-1 and most people go to their hometowns for this one. The program is structured like a normal undergrad program. It is a really stressful program and a lot of work but people at Trent are know to be very kind and helpful so it won't be hard to find a good study group.

Trent is the most beautiful campus and has access to a lot of support services.

Trent admits a lot of people. I would say more than most schools so you have a good chance!

I'm also writing mine on the 23rd! Pretty nervous because I don't know what to expect but UWashignton's Bioethics page online has some great resources. Good luck! You got this!!
