Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2019

Updated:   Published

Hello Everyone,

I am currently a third year York University student hoping to apply for second entry nursing at York

only next year (yes I am going through the strike).

Since applications open in November, I thought it would be best to get this forum started. I am hoping to get more insight into the program and I hope current and past nursing students would share their views on the program and how job searching went. Also, what nursing specialties do most York nursing graduates enter as I am hoping to get into public health. Furthermore, share your insights on Humber, McMaster, U of T, Trent, Queens, Western, Ottawa and Nippissing. (I think that is all) and don't forget to include your acceptance GPAs.

Hey there! I applied to Nipissing too and I'm doing my CASPer test on Sunday so maybe they're waiting on that last final test date?? (Hopefully!)

I believe so, cause they still haven't received my casper results, and it takes about 3-4 weeks (I think) for schools to receive them.

Hi everyone!

Is anyone out there currently enrolled in UWO's accelerated program, or know someone who is currently enrolled in the program? How is it? I've been told that nursing students at Western simply feel like a number and receive limited clinical experience compared to other nursing students.

Let me know what you think and good luck to all you fellow applicants!

I'm worried about this considering UWO program is only a supposed 19months

I just received an interview email from Nipissing !

Just got an interview from Nipissing too! :)

That's insane! Did you have limited extracurriculars? Did you meet all of the prereqs?

Hey guys! I know this is supposed to be Ontario second entry, but did anyone here apply to UBC? I applied to UBC, U of T and Western. Does anyone know when UBC sends out their admissions decisions? I did the Casper the other night and I am super nervous about how I did.

Lots of volunteering... I'm a mentor with the Big Sisters of BC organization to a little girl, did clinical research experience with SFU and Fraser Health, volunteered at a care home for four years ever since high school. I also am finishing up my BSc in the next month.

There’s also a ubc allnurses forum, check it out! I applied to all the schools you mentioned, as well as mcmaster. The good (and bad) thing about casper is that we won’t be getting the results so we don’t need to worry about those (though i’d love to know how i scored lol).

That's so weird, kind of scaring me too. Are you sure all your pre-reqs matched with Queen's reqs?
