Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2019

Updated:   Published

Hello Everyone,

I am currently a third year York University student hoping to apply for second entry nursing at York

only next year (yes I am going through the strike).

Since applications open in November, I thought it would be best to get this forum started. I am hoping to get more insight into the program and I hope current and past nursing students would share their views on the program and how job searching went. Also, what nursing specialties do most York nursing graduates enter as I am hoping to get into public health. Furthermore, share your insights on Humber, McMaster, U of T, Trent, Queens, Western, Ottawa and Nippissing. (I think that is all) and don't forget to include your acceptance GPAs.

Hmmm...... maybe you should contact the admissions office, but I think it would make sense that they take the winter term average only (I think). Also on UofT Admission requirements for Nursing. it states:

To be eligible to enter the BScN program, applicants must have completed at least ten (10) university full-course equivalents prior to admission, with at least a mid-B (approximately 75% or 3.0 GPA) average in the final year of study, or the last five (5) full-course equivalents of their university education. Of the ten (10) courses, a maximum of six (6) courses can be at the 100-level.

To clarify is 10 university full course equivalents is based on your last 60 credits (York University)? I'm a bit confused!

I would agree with that too, it seems arbitrary to assign two courses the special right to be counted in the last 5 credits... maybe they should just take our top marks from last winter semester haha! I'm on the same boat

Impatiently waiting for admissions from Queen’s .... I’m from Vancouver finishing up my BSc! I just found out TODAY that Queen’s sends out admissions the second week of Feb?? Lol, I heard that some of you got in already! So happy for you guys! I wonder why they didn’t inform most of us last Friday too?

Did my CASPER test yesterday evening for McMaster. Ugh. I got cut off typing on a few questions. The questions themselves were interesting but under a time limit were very stressful. Thought I did overall OK but was a very stressful experience! Good luck to anyone else writing it!

Likewise, I did mine yesterday night.I was really feeling the pressure, but I think it went alright! No worries, I'm pretty sure everyone felt stress completing the CASPer Test. Thank God, that's over with!

Just received a conditional offer for Humber second entry today! Amazed since my average is at a 9.9 on the McMaster scale which is on the lower end.

I'm waiting too! Queens is my first choice. Curious though, in Solus does it say that they still need your university transcript? I sent mine through OUAC and all other schools have mine but Queens seems to be slow with processing or something! Super frustrating :(

Got accepted to Queen's yesterday, super exciting! Conditional offer as long as I maintain at least a 2.7 GPA.

Is it too late to add another school through OUAC 105d. Thinking of adding Queens

Yup mine got processed! It took a couple weeks though.

Nice! So happy for you. Do you mind if I ask what your GPA was?
