Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2019

World Canada CA Programs

Updated:   Published

Hello Everyone,

I am currently a third year York University student hoping to apply for second entry nursing at York

only next year (yes I am going through the strike).

Since applications open in November, I thought it would be best to get this forum started. I am hoping to get more insight into the program and I hope current and past nursing students would share their views on the program and how job searching went. Also, what nursing specialties do most York nursing graduates enter as I am hoping to get into public health. Furthermore, share your insights on Humber, McMaster, U of T, Trent, Queens, Western, Ottawa and Nippissing. (I think that is all) and don't forget to include your acceptance GPAs.

For Uoft, did yall complete the budget section under admission awards/scholarship for the supplementary application?

Nope! But I would have if I needed financial assistance.

Did you do resume style in the extracurricular portion or the supplementary question portion? Wouldn’t writing paragraphs in the question portion show that you can express your ideas eloquently? It’s a space that allows them to hear you speak right?

Yep, paragraphs in the supplementary portion. But resume style in the extracurricular portion.

Just got accepted into Humber's accelerated program, from the last year's group February has been where lots of the acceptances went out so check your emails! ?

I also got in. Excellent! I passed gr12 data management recently to apply to this program, haha. Still going to wait for UofT's response though because it's a shorter program.

congrats ? same here waiting for uoft!

Congrats on your acceptances!! That's great news ❤️

does anyone know what humber's 2 year accelerated program timeline is like? I tried to and failed to find information about it. Does the prep semester start in September? And are there summer breaks?

I got accepted into Humber/UNB's Accelerated Program too! Just waiting for UofT now but I know they'll be coming around April - June. ?

To anyone that knows about the Humber Program/is in it themselves (or knows someone in it): Can get some of the prep courses exempt if we meet the minimum 74% for them in our previous degrees? I know that if you completed ALL of them successfully before then you're admitted straight into the second-entry program as per their admissions website, but what if you only completed some of the prep courses they listed...

I have the exact same question. I tried to find the answer but the closest thing I found was in the forum also on allnurses: "Humber College Second Entry (2015)" where one person said they only had to take 3 out of the 5 prep courses because they already took it. But I'm not too sure. Hopefully others will answer it!

I just checked one of the facebook groups (Humber 2020) and some people were saying they had transfer credits from uni (took about 4 weeks to verify) and so they took fewer courses!

That's awesome! Yeah I tried asking the admissions people about it and they said they're sending out an email regarding prep courses/the process sometime early this week so hopefully we get an official clarification of it!

Also, congrats on your acceptance! ?

Hi everyone,

Hope all is well!

I'm currently in my last year of Health Studies at York University. I applied to the following school/programs:

1) York University - Second Entry

2) Uoft-BSCN

3) Nippissing University- SPP

My gpa for the last two years is somewhere between 3.3-3.5 on a 4 point scale. I have volunteer/work experience in hospitals, research, developmental services, and non-profit organizations.

I pray that I get accepted for the Fall 2019 intake. And I truly wish everyone good luck! I find it great that such forum exist where we can all have a discussion about the schools we applied too, anxiety (oh boi), and sharing our experiences.

Hello there!

I am mature student, with international credits.

I applied to York-second entry and Nipissing SPP.

My cGPA is low-3.23. Will see..
