Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2019

Updated:   Published

Hello Everyone,

I am currently a third year York University student hoping to apply for second entry nursing at York

only next year (yes I am going through the strike).

Since applications open in November, I thought it would be best to get this forum started. I am hoping to get more insight into the program and I hope current and past nursing students would share their views on the program and how job searching went. Also, what nursing specialties do most York nursing graduates enter as I am hoping to get into public health. Furthermore, share your insights on Humber, McMaster, U of T, Trent, Queens, Western, Ottawa and Nippissing. (I think that is all) and don't forget to include your acceptance GPAs.

Thank you! A little towards uoft because of their placements + research opportunities.. but I'm still not quite sure :( Anyone in either of these schools who could put some input on the pros and cons of each school?

Did anyone hear back from McMaster?

No, I haven't heard anything. Hopefully by the end of the week!

Congrats! What was your final year GPA and ECs?

Thank you! ? Final year was a 3.98 on a 4-point scale. I've been doing research for 3 years with a mix of ECs (hospital volunteering, school clubs, medical clinics and working as Nutritionist).

Has anyone spoken to Humber admissions recently, and did they tell you what GPA the waitlist is starting on?

I've been accepted into Humber a couple of weeks ago! We have to accept by May 1st.

Thank you, and congratulations! ? Do you know if you're accepting? And if you don't mind sharing, what was your GPA for the last 2 years?

Thank you! I'm still waiting to hear back from the other nursing schools, so we'll see ? Honestly, I don't but I do have above 80% for most of my courses for the past 2 years. But I assumed Humber looked at the average for the past four years.

I emailed and this was the response:

Thank you for your enquiry and interest in Humber's Second Entry Nursing Program!

Humber’s Bachelor of Nursing – Second Entry program waitlist is not ranked until an applicant is needed from the waitlist. As students are completing applications and upgrading applications on an ongoing basis, positions on the waitlist are subject to change.

Should there be a spot available and you are at the top of our waitlist, you will be notified the same day.

Please let me know if you have any additional requirements.

Has anybody heard from Trent lately?

I haven't heard anything. My myTrent profile still says WA on it as they're waiting for my final transcript to finish evaluating my application.

Anyone heard from UofT today?
