  1. Does anyone know anything about the accelerated nursing program at Trent? I just got accepted to the program and I'm struggling to choose between Ryerson-GB (I can live at home and wont have to get in debt but its 4 years), or the accelerated Trent program (I will have to take out bank loans on top of the small amount of OSAP I'll recieve). Just wondering if the placements are difficult to get to/rural, and if accelerated nursing students have a specific residence (with the graduate students)? I'd like to work in the GTA after graduation so if it's more difficult for Trent nurses to find jobs after graduation (due to placements in school outside the GTA), that would be a consideration for me as well.
  2. Ahh okay, that makes sense. I've sent a few emails recently about the waitlist so I'm not sure if they'd still call. Your GPA was so high not to get an offer right away! Thanks for all the info ?
  3. Congratulations!! That's good to know that they are taking people from the waitlist now! Thanks. ? I haven't gotten a call, but I'm living outside the country right now so I have my parent's number listed for them to contact if needed. Did they email you to notify you of you the opening as well? If you don't mind sharing, what was your GPA in the last 2 years?
  4. When did you have to give a deposit to Humber/confirm you were going? On a waitlist still but the chances don't look great now.
  5. I have a low GPA as well - around 3.1-3.3 depending on if its cumulative or not. Don't lose hope, I got into 4 4-year nursing programs (didnt have the prereqs to apply to most of the 2 year ones, and haven't heard back from the 2 I did apply to). There's always a chance if you're passionate and you work hard. As others have said you could look into doing an RPN program and then bridging to an RN.
  6. Does anyone know if Trent lets you know if you're on a waitlist? I applied back in November and it says they're still evaluating my application. I'm assuming that means I'm not 100% rejected, but it seems strange to not have a waitlist by now. Has anyone been officially waitlisted by Trent?
  7. When did you find out you'd been accepted/ did you hear of anyone who got in off the waitlist?
  8. That's weird, they told me they re-evaluate every time and don't have a set list. What they told you makes a lot more sense though.
  9. Has anyone heard from Humber recently? I emailed about the waitlist and they told me it isn't ranked, so I'm not sure how they pick new people.
  10. Just got accepted to the Western Fanshaw program, but it's the four year, not the two year.
  11. That makes me feel a bit better, thank you! Congrats on your acceptance as well! Hopefully I'll see you in September ?
  12. Hey everyone! I've been accepted to MoMac and the Ryerson-Centennial collaborative programs. I've already completed a BSc degree at Western, so I'll be a mature student (23 when the program starts). Does anyone have experience or know of anyone who's recently done either of these programs (especially as a mature student)? McMaster is much closer to where I live (30min vs. 1 1/5 hrs), however, I'm worried about the PBL. I'm also wondering if people have had success transferring credits from a previous degree (at McMaster or Ryerson), and if it's possible to transfer to an accelerated stream if pre-reqs are completed and grades are high. I've emailed both programs, but the deadline to accept my Mac offer (therefore rejecting my Cent/Ry offer) is May 29th. Just looking for any outside perspectives!
  13. Just got accepted into the MoMac collab! I've also been accepted to the Ryerson Centennial collab. I'm a bit torn on which to choose - ideally I'll get into a 2 year program but the odds don't look great as I've been waitlisted at 1 and still waiting on the other. I'd really like to work in DT Toronto when I finish schooling, which is why the Ryerson program is attractive. I have a few questions about the MoMac program if anyone's able to answer them: Does anyone know if there are any Mac placements in Toronto? Do the MoMac placements differ from the Mac placements (I'm really interested in NICU or Labour and Delivery)? Course-wise, I have a biology degree from Western so I'm hoping I can sub in some of the courses I may have already taken - does anyone know if MoMac is good with this? Any insight into the MoMac or Cent. Ryerson collabs would be amazing! ?
  14. My app still says waitlisted!
  15. I'm still waiting to hear back from Trent, but how do you like the program? I really want to work in Toronto and I'm worried the program would focus on rural work. Do you find this to be the case?
