Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2019

Updated:   Published

Hello Everyone,

I am currently a third year York University student hoping to apply for second entry nursing at York

only next year (yes I am going through the strike).

Since applications open in November, I thought it would be best to get this forum started. I am hoping to get more insight into the program and I hope current and past nursing students would share their views on the program and how job searching went. Also, what nursing specialties do most York nursing graduates enter as I am hoping to get into public health. Furthermore, share your insights on Humber, McMaster, U of T, Trent, Queens, Western, Ottawa and Nippissing. (I think that is all) and don't forget to include your acceptance GPAs.

Hello everyone, I have an admission with Humber but western is my top choice. However, western requires ielts and my score for one of the section didnt meet up with the point they want. My average is 3.8 but my major concern is the ielts. My question is how strict is western with ielts for admission.

Hey guys! Does anyone know how to calculate your average via percentage based off of your GPA? My last 10 units is 3.97 on the Queen's 4.3 scale. What would that be considered as? Thanks!

this may not be accurate, but you could do 3.97*(4.0/4.3)

hey guys! I've applied to queen's, uoft and western and have recently received acceptances to western and queen's. My GPA is 3.9/4 on my last two years.

I am required to accept/decline Western's offer by March 22, so need to make a decision soon.
From your guys' perspective, what are the differences between Western and Queen's?

Any help in this decision process would be greatly appreciated!

I second this! Would love to hear someone's perspective on Western's Nursing.

That's awesome congrats!! What was your GPA for the last 10 credits? My housemate is in Queen's nursing and I heard it's a fantastic program! From previous forums, I heard that Western is defintely on the lower scale in terms of the quality of their program compared to the other two you applied to. Good luck with making your decision!

Anyone know when Queen's sends out their wave of acceptances/rejections? I keep checking and it says 'Pending'

When do most universities send out their rejections?

People who've been accepted to Humber Second Entry - what date did they give you until to decide if you were accepting their offer? Wondering when they'll send out another round of acceptances.

Hi everyone!

I've been following this thread and thought I'd introduce myself, I'm a second year Pre-nursing student at Michigan State University. I applied to Trent, Queens, UofT, Western, Mac, and York for their compressed/accelerated programs. I've already gotten denied from queens but I'm still hopeful. I have a 3.0 cGPA but in the states our gpa scale works a little differently, so that's a 80-82%ish average I believe. I don't have a degree, but I've catered my two years at MSU to the pre-prerequisites of all the programs I applied to and am finishing the last few this semester. I know most people who are accepted have degrees but I really hope I get in somewhere and I'm trying to stay optimistic! Good luck to you all and congrats to those who have already gotten acceptances!

May 1, I believe

Since March 21st is the date for people who got the first round of acceptances for Western to accept or decline, does that mean more will be going out tomorrow?
