Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2018

Published

I'm applying to the second entry nursing program in February 2018 for Fall 2018 admission. I'm applying to York, Humber, Trent, Nipissing and potentially Western. I'll be applying with a BA in psych. This is probably super premature, but I wanted some reassurance from fellow applicants. I also wanted to know if anyone, past or previous applicants, know the weighting of Additional Information forms and how they're considered during the application process? I was diagnosed with ADHD during my second year of university, after being misdiagnosed two previous times, and it's certainly had an impact on my grades. My GPA is going to be something like 6.7 on a 9.0 scale. And this really has me worried. Has anyone else had any experiences with Add. Forms?

Good luck to all!

Most schools send out a majority of their offers before they receive the final transcript. The final transcript is there just to confirm that you have passed and completed everything they required. Since most schools require minimum 2 years, by the time the final transcript comes in, it might be too late. You might have a chance with York since you're an internal applicant.

thanks I appreciate your response. I'm kind of depending on York now since I'm an internal applicant. Even if I get into one of the programs I wont feel like I wasted all my money.

Hey guys! I'm in my fourth year of my Biological Science undergrad. I applied to UofT, Western, Mac, Trent, Queens and York for Sept 2018!!! Im really nervous about doing the casper test next month, does anyone have any advice at all??

I was also wondering if anybody knows if Western has a pre req form or anything for the application?

I know UofT and Queens has the supplementary essay and Mac, Trent and York have casper! Just making sure I didnt miss it....

Please let me know :)

I'm taking the casper test next week! I'm trying to not over think it as I have heard from many people that you cannot really study for it. Its basically created in a way you can't study for it because they want to see how your ethical and critical thinking skills are on the spot! Which I think is totally fair for nursing or med school :) ... so my advice would be to just try and relax about it and take a look at some sample questions so you sort of know what to expect!

Pretty sure Western is only a grades-based program (which is why I decided not to apply there). Good luck!

Hi All,

I am in my third year of Life Science at UOIT. My GPA is 3.5/4.3 I think that's a 3.3/4.0 scale.

I have applied to Trent, Queens, Western, and McMaster. I completed my Casper in November. Everything is submitted to the schools and now I'm just waiting to hear about acceptances.

Does anyone know what the minimum acceptances were last year for these schools? I heard that Trent's lowest acceptance was a 79%.

Feeling really nervous about my grades.

How was your casper test?? I am writing mine next week.

My grades are in about the same range as yours... I'm also pretty nervous about it. I'm just hoping that the supplemental application will make up for the 'lower' grades. It sucks that a 3.3 is considered on the lower end haha. I'm not sure about the acceptance rates but just gotta hope!!

I took Casper last year, the only thing you can do to prepare is to do some typing training, I remember that I felt that it wasn't enough time to type everything I wanted to type and check for some typos or obvious mistakes. Good luck with your Casper!

Hi everyone,

Queen's has begun sending out offers of admission. I logged onto Queen's Solus + OUAC and found out I was offered admission! I also applied to UofT and Western. Still going to have to wait to hear from them. Good luck to all!

The casper test wasn't so bad. It's an ethics exam, and they put you on a time crunch (5 mins to answer three questions about a scenario). Definitely warm up with a few online typing timer games. It's important to remember that spelling does not count. You may be best to not read over your answers and just get out as much as you can. Try your best to not leave a question blank. Also there is a break half way through, take it!

Hi, what were your grades if I may ask!

Hello! My top choice is York's second entry program. Would anyone happen to know if the acceptance averages for an external applicant are higher than the minimum requirement averages posted on Yorks website?

The cut-off will always be higher than the minimum posted as long as there are more applicants than the number of seats available.

Yes I gathered. I was hoping that someone would know what the approximate numeric value of the acceptance average would be for york's second entry program for external applicants. I guess the way I phrased the question was misleading, my apologies
