Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2018

Published

I'm applying to the second entry nursing program in February 2018 for Fall 2018 admission. I'm applying to York, Humber, Trent, Nipissing and potentially Western. I'll be applying with a BA in psych. This is probably super premature, but I wanted some reassurance from fellow applicants. I also wanted to know if anyone, past or previous applicants, know the weighting of Additional Information forms and how they're considered during the application process? I was diagnosed with ADHD during my second year of university, after being misdiagnosed two previous times, and it's certainly had an impact on my grades. My GPA is going to be something like 6.7 on a 9.0 scale. And this really has me worried. Has anyone else had any experiences with Add. Forms?

Good luck to all!

I think when a program says "biology, chemistry, english, math" thats the 4U courses for high school students going into the first year of a 4 year program, for accelerated programs I believe the only prerequisites you need are the specific university equivalent courses that each school lists under the program. Which school are you looking at specifically?

page 23 underneath admission requirements for university students. I'm specifically looking at the AST which lists certain prereqs, but underneath 'admission for uni students,' it lists other prereqs as well (cell bio), which is why I'm confused as to what is actually required for AST.

@bnavas You're right that is confusing! Queens asks for your high school transcript (I'm in my fifth year of university and they still want mine) so I assume for those courses listed under 'requirements for university students' are fine at the uni or high school level but it does look like you have to have them, so if you have high school biology I think that would work for that prereq, it's only the ones listed under the AST portion that have to be taken in university. So if you have high school biology I think you will be okay!

@mcpjenn I have high school and uni general bio, but not specifically cell bio, which is why I'm worried.

When does UofT send out the acceptance letter? I checked last year and it was sent out as early as mid January also for western and queens

Maybe just call or email their admissions office just to ease your worries!

For the UofT supplementary app, my optional statement in the personal statement section is not being saved. Is anyone else having this problem? I've double checked to make sure that it didn't exceed 250 words. Everything else is saved except this very last part on this section. I've entered my statement multiple times, clicked "next step" so that it would save, but the box is empty when I go back to the section to check.

Hi everyone :)!

I am currently a first year in Western's accelerated nursing program, and I was apart of this thread last year! If anyone has any questions, I'd be happy to answer them! Feel free to send me an email at [email protected]

Hi guys

I was wondering if anyone is applying as a 2nd year student- it seems like most people here are in their last year of undergrad, so would that make me less likely to be chosen since I have less expereince in school? Thanks!

Hi there,

I have heard it is unlikely (especially for UofT) to get in as a second year, but definitely not impossible!

This happened to me too! I didn't write anything overly important so I ended up just leaving it and hoping it submitted itself. If it is something important you need submitted I would suggest emailing to find out what the glitch is.

Hey guys,

I sent my applications in about a week ago and haven't heard back from UofT and Queens yet for account information, how long did it take everyone else? I want to make sure my transcripts are sent in on time.

Also, anyone applying to humber receive an email with your humber number, but none with a password?

Thanks for your response! I'll email the faculty regarding this matter and provide an update to my post once they reply. Though unfortunate, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who experienced this. In the meantime (if you don't mind), when you log into the Bloomberg Nursing Portal again, could you please let me know whether or not your optional statement went through after submitting your application? Thanks!
