Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2018

Published

I'm applying to the second entry nursing program in February 2018 for Fall 2018 admission. I'm applying to York, Humber, Trent, Nipissing and potentially Western. I'll be applying with a BA in psych. This is probably super premature, but I wanted some reassurance from fellow applicants. I also wanted to know if anyone, past or previous applicants, know the weighting of Additional Information forms and how they're considered during the application process? I was diagnosed with ADHD during my second year of university, after being misdiagnosed two previous times, and it's certainly had an impact on my grades. My GPA is going to be something like 6.7 on a 9.0 scale. And this really has me worried. Has anyone else had any experiences with Add. Forms?

Good luck to all!

Hey everyone,

I'm working on UofT supplementary app as well. For the extra-curricular sections, are there specific format to respond? I'm wondering should I write in an essay format or a resume format. Thanks for your help!

Hey guys!

So I'm applying to York, Queens, Trent, and Western and I had a quick question about transcripts. When on OUAC, do you select to send your transcripts immediately? If so then does the school send a second round of transcripts with your final grades at the end of the term? I'm just confused because I feel like I should be sending my transcripts asap so they can see I'v completed some prerequisites and currently completing the last few. Thanks!

Hey! From my understanding from emailing OUAC, and what I did, was do two transcript requests through OUAC one to send immediately and then one to send at the end of the winter term. The schools won't automatically send one at the end of the year unless you request it!

Thank you! I didn't realize I had that option so I'll make sure to do that, that makes a lot more sense.

Thanks for your response! I'll email the faculty regarding this matter and provide an update to my post once they reply. Though unfortunate, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who experienced this. In the meantime (if you don't mind), when you log into the Bloomberg Nursing Portal again, could you please let me know whether or not your optional statement went through after submitting your application? Thanks!

I am submitting mine in the next few days so I will let you know! Is there a word limit for the questions like "Leadership, community involvement" etc. It only says a word limit for the first two and the optional questions, are those 250 words as well?

Thanks! And no, the other 2 sections do not have a word limit, just the 3 you listed

For the UofT supplementary app, my optional statement in the personal statement section is not being saved. Is anyone else having this problem? I've double checked to make sure that it didn't exceed 250 words. Everything else is saved except this very last part on this section. I've entered my statement multiple times, clicked "next step" so that it would save, but the box is empty when I go back to the section to check.

UPDATE: the issue has been resolved. I logged back in to check my application and the optional statement is being saved now.

I'm in my second year, second semester at York. I'm currently taking the last few credits required to get 60 credits in order to apply for multiple second entry nursing programs. I just got an email from Humber saying that they cannot review my application at the time because I do not have all 60 credits and that they will only review it when I send in my final transcript IF they are still reviewing applications. Does anyone know from experience or others if this is true for all schools? I never realized this and nothing of the sort was mentioned at a few info sessions I attended. So now I'm left wondering, did I just waste all my money on incomplete applications? I would think by the time the semester ends and they receive my final transcript, all spots would be filled in their program (for most if not all the schools I applied to).

Most schools send out a majority of their offers before they receive the final transcript. The final transcript is there just to confirm that you have passed and completed everything they required. Since most schools require minimum 2 years, by the time the final transcript comes in, it might be too late. You might have a chance with York since you're an internal applicant.

Hi everyone! I will be applying for 2nd Entry Nursing programs in Ontario for Fall 2018 admissions. I just need to complete the Human Anatomy and Microbiology prerequisites. Is anyone completing their prerequisites during Summer (May-Aug) 2018? I'm having difficulty enrolling in some courses at UofT so this might be an option for me. Hopefully it won't weaken my application. Also, is anyone completing their prerequisites at Athabasca? How's the experience been so far? Thanks! Good luck to all :)

Probably my reply is way too late but I really enjoyed microbiology online course from UNB, I completed it in couple of weeks and got A- but I am very-very good in pure memorization which is useful with microbiology. So you can sign up and complete this course quite fast. It has good explanation material and adequate testing.

Athabasca university is awful because there is absolutely no additional material, you basically reading a textbook and you can ask questions, that's it.

ANAT100 from Queens is a very good and reasonably challenging course, it has plenty of material to help with study.

Hey guys! I'm in my fourth year of my Biological Science undergrad. I applied to UofT, Western, Mac, Trent, Queens and York for Sept 2018!!! Im really nervous about doing the casper test next month, does anyone have any advice at all??

I was also wondering if anybody knows if Western has a pre req form or anything for the application?

I know UofT and Queens has the supplementary essay and Mac, Trent and York have casper! Just making sure I didnt miss it....

Please let me know :)

Hey everyone, I'm also applying to second entry nursing for fall 2018 to uOttawa, York, and McMaster!

I'm currently in my second year of biomedical science, cGPA sitting around 8.3 on the 10 point scale. I have years of volunteer experience in a children's hospital, and I'm also presently doing research with a prof. Despite this, I'm worried that being in my second year will affect my chances against other applicants who have already finished their degrees. Does anyone know whether or not this will have a big impact??

Good luck to you all :)
