Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2018

World Canada CA Programs

Published

I'm applying to the second entry nursing program in February 2018 for Fall 2018 admission. I'm applying to York, Humber, Trent, Nipissing and potentially Western. I'll be applying with a BA in psych. This is probably super premature, but I wanted some reassurance from fellow applicants. I also wanted to know if anyone, past or previous applicants, know the weighting of Additional Information forms and how they're considered during the application process? I was diagnosed with ADHD during my second year of university, after being misdiagnosed two previous times, and it's certainly had an impact on my grades. My GPA is going to be something like 6.7 on a 9.0 scale. And this really has me worried. Has anyone else had any experiences with Add. Forms?

Good luck to all!

I was just accepted on Friday! Don't lose hope, there's still time :)

Ahhhhh thank you! I can only hope.

What average were you accepted with if you don't mind me asking :)

Got accepted to UofT today with 85% average in the last year OF MY DEGREE. (My last year of 2 non-degree semesters had 88.5% average). I mentioned my experience in one of my earlier posts if ppl are curious so you can look there.

Something interesting that people might not know is that apparently they look at the last year of YOUR DEGREE. So if you did an extra non-degree year after you graduated UofT won't be using those marks to calculate your average.

this is the quote I got from an email a while back:

"Quick question regarding the admission requirements and the GPA calculation:

- I have already completed my HBSc degree and went on further to do a couple of non-degree semesters. Will the nursing admissions be looking at my actual last 5 FCE (the non degree semesters) or would they look at the last year courses of my HBSc degree?"

"Grade calculation is based on the final year of the degree, not courses taken after degree completion. However, relevant courses taken after degree completion can fulfil prerequisite course requirements. Also, the committee reviews all academic records holistically."

In kind of a complicated situation though, will be waiting for some certain life circumstances to come clear in June so I don't even know if I'd be able to attend UofT in September. Just gonna have to pay up the deposit and hope the refund the non-refundable deposit if life throws some crap at me later in June. Anyone have/know of any experience in either prolonging the time to accept or had their deposit refunded?

Also still waiting on Trent :o

Ahhhhh thank you! I can only hope.

I know people got accepted as late as August last year (at least that's what I read from someone's post earlier on in this forum) so I really don't think you need to stress :) I have an 84-85ish average if I converted it properly!

I am still waiting on Trent too

Hi everyone :) I got accepted into U of T and the 2nd Entry Humber/NB program. I'm trying to pick between the two and have heard good things for both. I have also heard that the Humber/NB program provides more clinical placements/hours which is better when looking for jobs. Does anyone have any information into how the two programs compare? How rigorous exams are for the two programs etc..

Thanks for your help in advance:) And best of luck to everyone!

Do any universities give offers out based off midterms?

Wow that's soooo late as if lol. Thanks very much for all your help :)

So... I'm starting to think disclosing a chronic illness and the fact that I will soon be undergoing a pretty intense treatment might have put me on UofT's **** list

Really regretting that choice lol

Oh wow, thank you! I didn't even realize this

Hi guys! I just received an offer of acceptance to Trent! I will be turning it down for UofT, so another spot will open up :-)

Did anyone hear from U of T today?

I've been following this board for quite a while now- I got accepted into UofT today! Congrats to everyone :)
