Online Science Courses

Hi all,

I thought that maybe it would be good to have a sticky for online science courses.

I am currently looking for an online/distance learning-- 4-- credit microbiology course. Of course it has to have a lab.

I know that both ccconline and Rio Salado offer these courses. Anyone have experience with either one of these in regards to microbiology, i.e. testing, level of difficulty, user friendly technology. I know from experience with Rio that the exams are proctored but how does ccconline deliver their exams?

I haven't taken any of the classes as of yet, but I am scheduled to begin A&P1 and Chem. May 21st. I will let you know how it goes. I do not have access to the syllabus as yet either.

That would be great if you could let me know how you like them. Do you know if the A&P course has a lab with it? I noticed that the Chem courses have a seperate lab class, but did not see a seperate one for A&P and Microbiology.

I just finished A&P I with Edukan and I thought it was great. VERY time consuming, alot of assignments in addition to the tests. I am going to take A&P II in the fall. And at some point Micro but I may try ccconline for that, I heard really good stuff about that. Ill be happy to answer any questions about Edukan A&P I.

No they do not which is GREAT!! they just are like regular transcripts that you take in classroom courses any info you would like on edukan let me know I have taken a great deal of courses there and LOVE IT

I took my online courses through http://www.mccvlc.org/ It's the virtual collaboration of community colleges in Michigan. It was tough! I'm halfway through Physiology right now.. Ick!

I am looking a Edukan seriously. Does it list Edukan college on the transcript? Isn;t it a group of jr colleges? What name is on the transcript please?

I have never heard of edukan. I know that you can take your psychology courses, microbiology, and many other courses on line through Lorain County Community College (www.lorainccc.edu).

Hi,

I have taken Intro to Psych, Psych-Growth and Development, American History 1 and 2, and The Microbial World through them. There are no proctored tests. The Microbial World (transfers to EC as Microbiology) does require you to go to campus just to pick up lab supplies. Maybe you could arrange for them to be shipped to you if you live far from there. All of the tests are on line for the above courses. I always emailed the instructor prior to signing up for the class to ask if on line visists were necessary! I hope this helps you.
