Hi all,
I am a working RN with an ADN degree. My ADN program only required pre-algebra and no upper level math courses.
I am looking for an online RN-BSN that has no math requirement as a pre-req. I have all of my gen eds required for most BSN programs with the exception of mathematics, and I'm not eager to take a math class because, well, I pretty much suck at math. and I just don't want to take the time to complete a math class at my local junior college. I'm OK with taking a nursing related stats class as part of the curriculum.
Not even sure such a beast exists because I've been looking for a long time, and I have searched the archives many many times and really found nothing. I thought I would post this just in case I missed something. Thanks!
1st: I stayed out of college 20 years because of fear of writing, statistics and chemistry. I was able to find many programs that didn't require chemistry. Once I took a decent writing course I found out it's not so bad, and stats; well, I got through it and it was hard but no reason to stay away for 20 years!
2nd: You might find a program that doesn't require algebra but almost all require stats. My statistics course had no pre-reqs but I would have been lost without some basic algebra. I thought it was unfair to allow students with no math background to be allowed to take it.
Suggestion: practice up skills through some online sources like Khan academy. I found them on YouTube but they also have a dedicated site where you progressively learn.
The previous poster is either referring to the University of Oklahoma, or possibly Ohio University. Both schools offer reputable online RN-to-BSN programs. However, Ohio University is only enrolling nurses who live in Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia and a handful of other states. What is OU?
They made this decision last week, so it is very new. They figure that if an RN already has an associate degree or diploma, then (s)he obviously has the ability to complete college level coursework. The Cummuter,How did you hear about WGU not requiring the math assessment?
Is this really true?
It's not just the math part of the assessment...it is all parts of the assessment that are waived for anyone who possesses an RN license.
