Depends on what they are. If the prerequisite classes are science, reputable schools will want them done in person including lab (a&p, micro, etc).

It depends on what you need, but be sure to check the community and state colleges in your state so that you can save by paying in state tuition

Ask this question directly to the schools you're applying to. Because School A might be ok with (an example) Straighterline for Stats, and school B might not.

I just wanted to add that, I was told by the nursing school admissions office that schools can't actually tell if you have done the lab online or not. I live in Colorado and we have the Colorado Community College Online Courses and they offer many of the pre-requisites. I don't know how it works where you live but I would look into the community colleges. When I did my prereqs at a 4-year they didn't have all of the prereqs available online so that is why I recommend community colleges.
The online classes I am looking at are my community College and this one from UNE called Science Prerequisites for Health Professions

Also, would Nursing school accept classes taken from Straighterline.

Again - it is specific to each individual school. YOU have to contact them and find out. There is no rule of thumb here.
