Hello. Noticed you were from Laurel, MS. I'm from Louisville, MS. Wondering how your experience is going with Walden since the last post? I have been accepted into the Sept 2014 FNP program and will have only 6 classes to take. Any advice or insight into the program will be great>

I understand that you can become a brain surgeon in just 9 courses.

Somebody is severely misinformed here. Straight from Walden's website, there are 12 required courses for the BSN to NP program and 17 required courses for the RN to NP program. Heck, even the BSN completion program requires more than 6 courses. You should really find out what you're getting yourself into if you really are going into the program. However, I find that hard to believe. I also wouldn't want to be the NP caring for patients with only an additional 6 courses (can you say seriously underprepared?) nor would I want to be the patient of said NP.

OP didn't say the program only had 6 additional classes. It could be possible that the OP had credits that are going to be transferred over ..

But you all are right it's 12 not 6 !
