Hello! I just wanted to make a thread specifically for those who are applying to the Samuel Merritt ABSN for a spring 2017 start. I'm applying to start in April 2017. It's the only program I'm applying to, as I can't afford more than a year without an income and I really want a BSN and not an MSN at this time. I'm done with my application, just waiting for nursing CAS to verify all my transcripts before I click submit! Currently working full time and taking my last 3 pre recs online. What about you?
This is my first choice. Only place I applied and only place I want to apply to at this point. If I don't get in, I will likely just keep applying and just do more things to "stand out". My next step would be to become a CNA and maybe even do some health related volunteer work in another country. Right now I'm a unit secretary but hopefully I won't have to take those steps! What about you?
Yeah I applied to the ELMSN Case Management Program for Fall 2017 and the De Anza College Nursing Program. I got into the De Anza program but they have a waiting list that you just stay on until your name is called. I'm really limited on where I can go to right now cause my sciences are at the 7 year mark. I really don't want to retake them. So my backup is De Anza and then I would just do a bridge program for my BSN or MSN after. Did you apply to any other programs Duke702? Hopefully the Summer isn't as competitive have any of you heard that it is?
dominique1: I am only applying to this program. And like others said, I will just keep applying if I don't get in this time (hopefully not though). But like you, some of my pre-reqs were taken a while ago and it would not be great to have to retake.
I don't really know how competitive it is. The website says they admit 32 or 48 for each cohort. I've seen on here that in past years, some of those admitted end up going to different programs so that opens up more spots. I know USF, UCSF, and SM all have Master's Entry programs that start in summer too.
I also read this : ABSN ADMISSION PROCESS | Samuel Merritt University stating that we hear back in March-April. Also this is the first year that the app is due in December versus September so HOPEFULLY it doesn't take until March or April but it might
