Samuel Merritt Spring 2017 ABSN

Hello! I just wanted to make a thread specifically for those who are applying to the Samuel Merritt ABSN for a spring 2017 start. I'm applying to start in April 2017. It's the only program I'm applying to, as I can't afford more than a year without an income and I really want a BSN and not an MSN at this time. I'm done with my application, just waiting for nursing CAS to verify all my transcripts before I click submit! Currently working full time and taking my last 3 pre recs online. What about you?

I know the waiting is already hard, and we still have 2+ months to go. I actually only ended up applying for the June San Mateo cohort, because I am taking the Pathophysiology and Pharmacology prereqs online next semester through SBCC. Where did you guys take those two classes? I so hope I get in.

I did pharmacology thru Santa Rosa junior college- I would definitely recommend that class, it's straightforward and the instructions are clear with no busywork. The place where I took patho isn't offering it anymore. The pre Rec verification for SBCC was too crazy- they were demanding the final transcript showing that I had completed physiology, but that would have meant I couldn't register almost until the day the class started. Def glad I went elsewhere!

Oh funny, I was just registering for the classes at SBCC last week, and I learned about the pre-req requirement. I didn't even know they required pre-reqs to register, and so I was really worried I wouldn't be able to get into the classes. I sent my transcripts for anatomy/physiology online, and sent the online pre-req form. I thought it would take a week or something and then all the classes would have been full. Luckily, it was approved that day and I was able to get into the classes. Major relief.

That is lucky! I took physio this summer and wanted to take patho for fall so physio didn't end until after my registration date and they would only accept a final transcript- not an in progress one. Hope your classes are easy! :)

Hi! Just came across this thread- I applied to Oakland (May) as my first choice and San Mateo (June) as my second choice. This waiting game is killing me! Good luck to you all and I can't wait to hear when notifications start coming out :)

Only about 1 more month or so to go until we start finding out! Getting a little bit nervous. I started one of my online courses this week and a lot of people in the class are also applying to this ABSN. Some for later start dates, but also some for the May/June start I think. Has anyone heard any updates from Samuel Merritt?

What are your back up plans if you are not accepted this time around? Are you applying for FALL? I've thought about it. Of course I really hope I don't have to wait, because the Fall cohort in San Mateo doesn't start until November. I wonder how competitive the summer cohort is. Getting very anxious.

I have a full time job so if I don't get in I will just keep being an attorney and apply again until I do get in :(

Looking back to last year on here, people started hearing around Feb 17. So might be around then.

Altho in years past the app was due 9/1 this is the first year they had it due 12/1! I wonder if that will push things back...
