Nursing Students School Programs

As I was going through looking for threads of the programs I plan to apply for I didn't see one for SHSU Spring 2019 so I decided maybe I would go ahead and start one!

I am currently finishing my associates of science and associates of humanities from Palo Alto College in San Antonio where I currently live, then will hopefully have everything in line for SHSU application when it opens up.

I do still have to take my TEAS exam which I have scheduled for June 27, I am so nervous about cutting a great score to help with my chance of admission, especially since I won't have the extra point for being a SHSU student.

I'm excited to hear from others who will be the applicant pool as well and hopefully we'll be starting our nursing journey together, good luck to everybody!!!

Well I had the date for my TEAS mixed up and I actually took the exam this morning.

It wasn't as bad as I was expecting and I managed to score a 92 overall on it! Here's to hoping I'll have what it takes to make the cut and get a seat in the Spring cohort!

Hey there! I'm applying for Spring 2019, I'm definitely super nervous. I haven't taken the TEAS yet, won't take it until August so I can study for it. That's the most nerve wrecking part I think for me. Do you have any tips on the exam??

hi ! I am applying for the nursing program too. I took my TEAS a while back and I got an 84% overall, Math 100 and reading 87. My pre nursing GPA is 3.5 and overall is 3.32.

Honestly, just don't overthink it! I've heard it was much more difficult than the HESI (which I also took) so I was a nervous wreck but was genuinely surprised at the information on the exam. Definitely spend some time reviewing AP if it's been a bit since you've been in the class but other than that just have faith & believe in yourself!!

That's fantastic!

Are you applying to any other schools or just SHSU?

Hello all, I'm also applying to SHSU LVN-BSN program for Spring. About how long did it take to get accepted to the school? Hopefully I will get the app finished today and send my transcripts in.

I was accepted pretty quickly after they received my transcripts, within a few days if that I had gotten an email with a packet following in the mail. I had applied for fall admission though so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

That's pretty fast. I have seen that they let you know pretty quickly as well; like within 2 weeks of the app closing. That's awesome. Do yall know how many usually apply? I know out of LVNs it's very little, which is actually a good thing because LVNs only compete against LVNs. I just learned about this program and I'm so glad I did!

Hey all. I'm also applying to the SHSU Nursing program for Spring '19. I'm most worried about immunizations as my doctor does not have my records anymore, and I still need to get them done. Does anyone know how heavily the immunizations records impact chances of admission? Also, are you all sending in copies of the actual lab report or just proof that you've gotten them done?

Well, from what I have read on here and also from speaking with the advisor, it is imperative that they are completed when you apply. Per allnurses, people have been declined due to the immunizations. Have you had all the vaccines? If so, just have the titers drawn. As long as they are good, you should be fine with the exception of the Tdap and for Hepatitis B. Not sure why, but it seems they want to see the record of the Hep B series AND the positive titer result. I'm sending my actual lab report.

Did you send the transcripts at the same time? Or did you wait until you got something from the school? I don't know why I'm acting like I have never done this before, lol.
