Sam Houston State - Spring 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

As I was going through looking for threads of the programs I plan to apply for I didn't see one for SHSU Spring 2019 so I decided maybe I would go ahead and start one!

I am currently finishing my associates of science and associates of humanities from Palo Alto College in San Antonio where I currently live, then will hopefully have everything in line for SHSU application when it opens up.

I do still have to take my TEAS exam which I have scheduled for June 27, I am so nervous about cutting a great score to help with my chance of admission, especially since I won't have the extra point for being a SHSU student.

I'm excited to hear from others who will be the applicant pool as well and hopefully we'll be starting our nursing journey together, good luck to everybody!!!

Hey everyone! Can someone please clarify on whether or not we have to have the Hep B positive titer submitted by October 5th? I won't be able to get my titer results for another two weeks. :/

I would call and ask. I got mine from Express family clinic. Their titers are stupid cheap, like 25$ cheap!

How soon did your titers come back through them?

I didn't use them for my Hep B cause I had like a day and half and they quoted 3-5 days.

I'm curious if they were just being cautious or not, lol.

It takes 1-2 business days to get results ! They're located in spring off Rayford . I'll go back to get my varicella titer and MMR in October. Also did you end up getting you BLS? Where are how much was it? I may be like you and start working on it, I hate always having to rush to get things done

Oh awesome, I went to the Rayford one to complete my Hep B booster series, I was just so paranoid about the titers not coming back in time I didn't use them. I only need my MMR so I'll probably go to them for that, thanks for that info!

I hadn't scheduled my BLS yet but it's on my to do, especially now that I for sure have a program to start in January. I'm gonna have to do it on a Saturday or Sunday because of childcare.

OMG, not to sound weird but when decisions come out and fingers crossed we all get in we should meet for drinks to celebrate if everyone's old enough of course. I live in the spring/woodlands area so I'm banking on getting accepted, I don't want to commute downtown.

I'm so down! We deserve it after all this stress lol!

Completely count me in! lol, I'm in Spring, close to the woodlands and would love to avoid that drive downtown as well. I'm keeping all my fingers & toes crossed for all of us to get good news, SOON!

Yessss I am down! A drink sounds great! I am in the Houston Heights area

Both times that I had my Hep B titer pulled (I was non-immune the first time), they had my results the next day and faxed them to me. No one should be emailing results for anything, it violates HIPPA.

Lol, I'm the opposite. I live in Montrose and work in the Med Center now. I walk 1 block to the bus stop, hop on and am at work 7 minutes later. I do NOT want to commute to The Woodlands!!

My results came back non immune as well, does the booster series take long to complete? As in is it the same length as the original hep b vaccination?

Yeah, you've got it made right now! lol. At least you'd be going opposite the heaviest flow of traffic (I think, I'm new to the area so not sure, haha).
